The 8000 Series is a brand new train to the Washington Metro Rolling Stock that is currently being built by Japanese Rail Manufacturer Hitachi at a factory in Hagerstown, Maryland. The trains will enter passenger service in 2028 to replace the 3000 which were built by Italian Rail Manufacturer Breda and entered passenger service in 1987. Route: Washington Metro Red Line
So are you suggesting the route too, as the train is pointless without it. At which point the proposal needs to be scrutinised under DTG’s LAMPOIL process. First and foremost whether the operator would even grant a licence and permission to access and research their operations and publish same in a train sim game. Then we have DTG’s reluctance to build sub surface routes with underground stations, which require special attention to light baking in UE4. They previously stated the development time necessary to do the amount of work for underground routes is not financially viable.
LAMPOIL stands for: Licensing: Self explanatory Anticipation: Gauges how players are likely to receive the proposed route, based on reviews, community feedback and similarity to existing content—ensuring it won’t feel repetitive or underwhelming. Mix: Prominence: "Considers the global appeal of the route and its assets—famous locations, landmarks and locomotives that will resonate with players worldwide rather than just local fans." Opportunity: "Looks for ways to broaden the add-on’s appeal—adding iconic landmarks, linking spin-off or seasonal content, or creating layers that could lead to further related releases." Intelligence: "Aligns the release with real-world events or anniversaries (festivals, historical dates, etc.) that marketing and community teams can leverage to boost visibility and engagement." Limitations: Technical issues, e.g. as mentioned, routes with stations in tunnels.
