Upcoming Release Wcml : Preston - Carlisle, Coming November 21st!

With all the realism issues on TSW5 I'm not worried about tail lamps on sets, but each to their own.

 

Definitely looking forward to this one and using the Class 87 on rail tours in free roam.

 

Hopefully the 87 layers onto Blackpool to Ormskirk as ai at preston

 

I think I heard somewhere on here that there are plans for that to happen, but don't fully take my word for it...

 

It won't happen straight away but they are looking to do so at some point.

 

I like the idea of route hopping between this and Blackpool and doing some long distance stuff. I've just realised where that steeply graded line goes off just south of Preston and I'm really hoping in the Carlisle version they will extend that all the way down.

 

Out of curiosity - for those in the know, were there any long distance trains heading from Blackpool via Preston to the North in the direction of Carlisle by turning around/changing locos at Preston?

 

I think there's a couple of overnight Loco hauled services from Scotland to Blackpool that feature Loco runarounds.

There's at least one day time 101 Scotland-Blackpool service.

 

I'd settle for arriving at Preston and having a relief loco put on the back, plus with the suitable routes we could do a few drags for fun too!

 

Just Trains have confirmed that the Class 87 will layer on to Blackpool Branches as AI at Preston. They have said it will not be a feature from release and there isn't a confirmed release date for this feature.

From what I understand, Just Trains are aiming to overhaul the timetable on Blackpool Branches to include services that would have involved loco change-overs that would have involved 87s or other electric locomotives

 

That would be cool as that would include the Euston-Blackpools as well

 

Oh my. If that actually happens, JT just seem to find new ways to hit it out of the park every time.

That'd be superb and just another little extra showing JT focus on quality. I get the feeling the Blackpool timetable update may come along with their loco DLC sometime next year. Feb/March time would be my guess.

The price of £32 will be worth every penny and more.

 

JT are the best. Can’t believe this route is the same price as the trash that Rivet put out. Looks like they’re going to top their own route as the best TSW route.

 

Well, to be fair, it is the most expensive TSW route to date. But the amount of content (and quality thereof) is very promising, I think people will be willing to pay a few more bucks in this case.

 

I've had more use out of the Blackpool Route than any other route in TSW, the only problem is its a little short for my liking, this new WCML route gets all the detail, all of the stuff I remember when I was around there at the time the route is set and I can jump over to the Blackpool route, I think its a bargain personally.

 

I just recently did one of the long BP South - Ormskirk services on that route. Absolutely loved it. Such a unique ride considering many of the tracks and infrastructure had just been removed at the time the route is set. Looks like I’m driving through a museum, each station tells its own story.

Soon? It is right now. PS4 turned 11 years old this month. That's ancient for a console, the PS4 is doing exceptional considering the content still coming to it.
What was the PS3 getting in 2017 compared to the then 4 year old PS4.
PS4 actually had TSW1 when the PS3 was 11 years old.

People need to think about that.

 

Yes, similar price in Euros. Just bought one for €800,-. At time tranferring my huge content over from my current PS5, after that I'll buy the new addons asap.

Going by what Matt said in the roadmap about Gen 8 and Frankfurt Fulda, it sounds like future routes may be limited for gen 8 anyway, so maybe TSW6 will see them being dropped.....

 

Will there be a pre-order discount for this DLC?

As far as I am aware, you cannot pre-order DLCs for TSW

 

let this please be true.. I'm not hating on the Gen 8 players (I was a Gen 8 player from TSW - TSW4) but I feel like they are restricting what can be done for TSW, by getting rid of Gen 8 compatablilty from TSW6 could help with making the game just that little bit better although, then again, it has been known for Gen 8 consoles to get less from the route unlike Gen 9 and PC players because Gen 8 consoles can't handle the same as Gen 9 consoles and PCs. An example of this is with Over Shap as it has been confirmed yesterday that Gen 8 consoles will be getting reduced services (as expected) but also no road traffic which leads me to believe that Gen 8 consoles will have to drive past empty roads

I knew the jig was up with Gen 8 and TSW when London Commuter was released and there were no layers for Gen 8 players, That's what convinced me to get a PS5 and was lucky enough to get one.

For me, still building stuff with Gen 8 restrictions in mind is holding the game back and has been for several years.

Maybe it's just me, but I get serious Resident Evil 1 flashbacks from seconds 16 to 30 of that video.

 

this class 87 is almost an expert class 87, another excellent job from just trains

 

I’ve been looking forward to this route and I can’t fault JT for wanting to make the experience as close to real as is possible but I am concerned about the need to “wind down the tap changer” (whatever that means) before any neutral section (I wouldn’t have a clue how to spot one).

Whilst I would be willing to learn at some point, when I first buy a route, I want to just drive and get a feel for it. If this facility can’t be switched off, then it’s not going to be any fun when every few miles (or however frequent these neutral sections are), the engine’s going to cut out because I haven’t got round to going through the training manual yet.

It’s like safety systems. I won’t turn them on until I’ve got a good feel for the train and the route and only then might I pluck up the courage to attempt to use them. That’s one of the main reasons I didn’t buy the revised LIRR.

I really hope that JT will give us the option to turn this thing off so that people who just want a casual drive are able to enjoy it whilst also satisfying those who want a more realistic experience.

There's a tutorial in the route I am sure they will cover. I believe it's a black board first then a white board. The first is a warning then latter is the commencement board.

You will see the line light go out in the cab and hear a noticeable change in engine sound.

Also, with winding it down it just refers to the fact you can damage the engine if you don't power it down of sorts. With the handle you want to tap it down until the ammeter and percentage guage reach nil.

 

It would be good if neutral sections appeared on the track monitor, I've never been any good at seeing the actual trackside signage.

Either that or a small pop-up icon showing the sign you are within 100 yards of.

Of course, if the route is as good as Blackpool, then I'll be playing it so much it shouldn't take long to route learn where these things are.

 

It's a simulation of a ~50 year old loco with limited protection systems.

I'm not paying for a dumbed down product (to that extent).

The product's expensive enough, so I think that it's unreasonable to expect the rest of us to pay for these additional features, because you haven't got around to reading a manual.

If gen8 was really holding the game back, there wouldn't be layers on all platforms or improved graphics. Gen 8 and gen9 already have big differences. Also the truth is that removing gen8 isn't magically going to improve the quality of graphics in any way. Dlc quality would remain the same

Yeah they change the release to the 26 of november. 5 days later than original the plan was.
