Inter-City used spare stock from the West Coast Main Line for additional Summer Saturdays to the West Country. The set would have come from Oxley depot and I imagine hauled by a Cross Country Pool Class 47/8. The DVT would have been used for luggage capacity but could not have been used to drive from.
