The boot up screen on PS5 is pretty interesting. TSW 5 logo has a different color (blue instead of red), the 5 has a different font and there’s an Overground train front and center. Maybe the Overground rolling stock was supposed to be included with the route at some point? Would make tons of sense to be honest, even more than the inclusion of the Bakerloo stock.
Yeah I was more confused as to what that sign was underneath the carriage. I’ll keep my eye out for any other floating signs or anything like that.
Having just had a quick walk around Euston, one observation I would have is that seeing that big concourse but being unable to access it is quite disappointing. By contrast, on Frankfurt Hbf you can walk into the shops... Still, Euston certainly looks the part, I'm pleased with that.
Are there any keyboard shortcuts for layers and fast travel? Looked in the Help but couldn’t see anything.
Also, is there a technique for the speed set button in the 390? Got it working a couple of times but successful activation seems random. Probably me but it would be nice to know.
You have to be in full/max power for it to activate. Once you get to your desired speed, press the speed set button located next to the throttle and it'll hold your speed.
The 390 is absolutely incredible. Fair play to whoever modelled it because they’ve hit it out of the park.
Thanks for the update Managed to figure it out and left the information on Steam.A few have had the issue Thanks again
Well you know, I have to say what I've seen so far is nowhere as bad as I expected. After doing the first Journey which is once around the TC with the Pendie jumped in the next scenario which is ECS from Wembley into Euston and then a special service to Watford Jn. The approaches to Euston are really well done, IMHO. Not too much stuttering and certainly no CTD. had to come off before finishing the rest of the run to Watford. Will complete tomorrow. As someone else noted the Pendie is nice to drive and even if not 100% accurate at least there is a traction audio presence unlike the 801 on ECML. Only thing that spoils it slightly is the lighting saturation but as we know that's a core issue. So while ther are known issues to resolve in particular the light timetable, my pessimism was probably not entirely justified.
So I decided to keep my preorder because I was impressed with the German route... The Pendolino is really nicely modelled externally and internally, and is spot on, so the team who developed it have got it right, (and for running sounds that weren't directly recorded for a 390, the sounds are rather impressive and a really nice mix) so top marks from me in that regard. The only minor fault I've found with the Pendolino is the kitchen doors behind the cab do not close/have a close option after being opened. It is a small error in the grand scheme of things and be easily corrected. One other minor thing, is last years Class 801 had some very realistic high speed running sounds inside the cab that seem universal across most 125mph units/locomotives that might sound nice if a similar mix could be implemented onto the Pendolino? Overall very impressed with the Pendolino. The functionality inside the cab is also really nice and immersive. The physics and driving are really nice too, so sincere compliments to the developers for that. I also like the extra level of functionality with the TPWS and AWS buttons that essentially need activating twice with different buttons. Its a nice little addition that adds to the immersion. I may be alone here, but the route and timetable still feels like a TSW2 route to me. Now I'm aware the timetable has been discussed to death so we don't need to discuss that further. But Euston is eerily quiet to the point of being ghostly. If we look at London Victoria from BML, it has a crowded and busy sounding audio for the station that brings it to life. The concourse is also extremely quiet. Euston is definitely something that needs to be worked on. (Look at BML London Victoria, or the recently remastered CCLs Glasgow Central to hear how a terminus should sound). The problem we've all seen is the lack of 8 car services, and this is evident and very noticable through out any game play. Most 350 services out of Euston are 8 cars long. I've a theory of why this is and it's a question DTG have yet to answer even though it's been asked many times... I feel the reason there are mainly 4 car services is because they only modelled the 350/1 which only has 30x units in a subclass and would lead to duplications, and for some odd reason no one could be bothered to have other subclasses included reusing the 350/1 model. They done it for the 377/4 in BML so why not here? Very odd. So 8 car services need to be sorted. When driving on the route, it does have bits of AI railway traffic, but certainly not as busy as it is in real life, and nor does it give a congested and busy feel we were told it was going to be. BML is still far busier from my own experience. It is more on the quiet side and lacking a 'busy commuter railway' feel. The timetable? Not fantastic or extremely busy. Discussed to death already, no need to go into detail. The Class 350 is nicely modelled externally and internally so no criticism there. But the physics are a bit offish... Acceleration is fine as it has a 4 notch speed setting, but braking feels bit on the light side and you need to go into the high settings to get any decent response. It's odd as the 380 which is a distant relative of the 350 seems to have absolutely fine braking and the type of responsiveness I would expect. I get the feeling maybe Rivet have had a input with the 350 as its braking physics seem to mirror that of the 385 quite closely. One positive it shares with the Pendolino is the TPWS needs activating with 2 procedures which adds to the immersion for me personally. I'm all for as much interactive functionality as possible. The Class 350 sounds are good, such as the acceleration and accompanying traction motor sounds. But the 350 (along with the 380) has this slightly annoying loop with the cab sounds, when the unit is running at high speed, it sounds like a slight track joint every 10 seconds or so, and then the sounds loop can be heard starting and repeating itself again. Its hard to describe but thats the best I can do. The outside running noises at speed could definitely do with being made louder as they sound rather quiet and underwhelming at the moment (maybe thats just my own perception?). The Class 377 is an odd one. It's missing the carriage number sliders inside the cab. The speedometer is far to bright, and the air conditioning seems slightly muted compared to the BML version (which is the accurate representation). The seats also seem to have been slightly altered and are a deeper shade of green, and the texture is slightly offish. (You'd have to compare the original 377/4 from BML to the WCML 377/2 variant to see the difference). Although for me personally, I do not particularly care as I'll be using this as AI, but it's important to note for other players. The lighting and baking has already been discussed so I feel it is of no use for me to comment on that as it's already been acknowledged as inadequate. Disappointingly the scenary on the route is lacking a bit, don't get me wrong, you've obviously got some nicely modelled land marks, but the close up track scenary is quite sparse. The London Underground stations look like they have been copy and pasted from the actual Bakerloo Line route from 2020. This could certainly explain the lack of 710 stopping signs? So yeah, I'd probably give it a 6/10 for the moment. There is clear room for improvement on a number of things. Without sounding insulting though, when I've played the German or US routes I do feel they actually feel like an evolution of the game. The German route is really good... But with this, it doesn't feel like a evolution, it does still feel like a TSW2 route overall. Do I think it can easily be brought upto a TSW5 standard? Most certainly... But it will take some long term commitment to bring it upto that standard and that could be a while off yet.
Yeah, but do you not think it should have arrived in TSW5 standard to start with? And that's the rub every time a new version of TSW comes out.
Same issue on series S. the rest of the route is fine but as soon as I arrive into Euston, the game just crashes.
Yeah, 100%. All the other routes lived upto to the standard that I'd expect them to be, minus the WCML, but I had anticipated that, so it didn't come as a huge surprise. It's very average at best in its current state.
Yeah, is should never have launched like that. Matt did live stream drive and it was we need to fix this and and we need to fix that, but they have already given the keys to the customer? Several players on here have started to highlight problems, from frame rate problems to thermal nuclear glowing bins? Errr? Not good enough.
Don't hate me but... The feedback, screenshots and footage have done enough to erode my opinions about buying in. I'm in with the standard edition as not too fussed about the pendolino and other deluxe bits. It's worth it for me coming from TSW3 I think, but I'm still significantly disappointed with some of the core shadow and lighting issues, as well as the desolate sense of the WCML. I fully intend to keep honking about those and other issues, but will also celebrate that which is good, and San Bernardino looks very good. Hopefully reshade and engine.ini tweaks can do their magic once again.
You are banished from this land, don't ever come back here again!!!!! Unless you come bearing gifts or complaints. Yeah, I think we all want to buy it, that is why we here to try and drive wcml over the finish line to get it in a place where it would be of a good standard and enjoyable. Best of luck fella, hope it goes well and you avoid TSW4 (didn't miss much) Let us know how you find it? But DTG are rattled, I think they know they screwed up, but lets see how quickly they fix it? If they fix it?
Is anyone else suffering from low res textures in the 390 cab? All the buttons look really strange. Like they are not fully modelled. The DRA button for instance looks horrible.
Train Sim World 4 Deluxe Edition is £7.99 on Xbox and every other place right now. Just wait until this time next year, and TSW5 will probably be the same price... and the class 390 might have suspension by then too. Great respect to all the beta testers who dropped £59.99 / £104.99 on the early access versions of TSW5, so that the rest of us don't have to. You are doing a great job of reporting bugs.
I feel really bad for the players who drop money on a broken game, I did warm them not to get it and to wait, but no. Wcml crashs when players go into Watford or Euston for Playstation and Xbox, frame rate drops, plus the guard mode crashes plus all the other problems pointed out in the stream. Fair play for Matt coming on here and then doing a stream , just to help players purchase err I mean help players with their purchase.
For real. And now that the core game is free, I see absolutely no reason not to wait until this time next year when TSW5 deluxe bundle is inevitably on sale for $10. I have a backlog of routes I’ve barely touched that’ll keep me busy anyway.
Plenty happy with the frame rate around the WCML.My system just above the recommended system specs.I'd recommend older system owners update their motherboard chipset driver's and GPU drivers. Haven't touched a thing from the default settings upon boot up. It's a good looking route.Of course the 350 and the Pendo are brilliant. I'll take a look at the other two routes once I've seen everything on the west coast. Thanks to all the DTG staff.
Anyone would think we couldn't make our own minds up! You might want to note that some players are enjoying it, it's not a punishment, it's a hobby.
I must admit that from the 3 routes the UK route is the most disappointing or it could be that UK players always oversell their routes. The rail network in my country looks way busier
So my feedback after playing for a few hours yesterday ps4 Class 390/0 services unplayable havent tried the /1 yet to scared to try in.case it crashes Class 377/2 missing Likes conductor mode on wcml No passengers at euston Very annoyed by the bugs why dovetail has it happend
I actually fell asleep before I could pull the trigger because I was dithering over which version, amd now on waking I'm feeling my habitual sense of caution. The Prodigal Son Returns!! What is he blithering on about, I hear you ask.. I'm going to get the free version in a few days time, then might pick up something after that once the patches land. Good news about the 390 suspension though.
What happened is you feel asleep your brain went to work going over which version to buy and your brain just went HELL NO!!! The free version is the safe option, sit on the fence and watch Matt do all the streams about which bit DTG have patched, note I said streams not stream, this is going to take months to fix. Prodigal Son is welcome home, we shall feast, grab some popcorn and watch it unfold. Console players are reporting issues with crashing when they pull into Euston or Watford, there is no way you can call a game enjoyable if it is at that and certainly not of a good standard. Suspension is a myth, like Unicorns, I will only believe in it when I see it
Some guy was on You Tube claimed all trains in TSW5 would have suspension, not sure if we can believe him because he made the same claim about TSW4? Can't remember the guy's name, but he has a pink headset, if that helps?
Is anyone experiencing crashing not only outside, but inside Euston? my game crashed outside Euston & then crashed on me again when I was in the platform just about to open the doors after finishing the service - both my runs were 350 (yet to try the 390) & I am on Series S.
I did a full run in the 710 to Watford. See one other 710 at Watford hi st. Oh plus 1 stabled near Willesden jct.
Yeah, what you need to come back to me with is "all players are enjoying it", but you can't and that's being my point. You are buying an unfinished product and you are letting DTG away with it again. At this rate TSW6 will just come to us as code. Going forward DTG need to just focus on the core of the game, launching a new core every September and then do DLCs throughout the year because it seems they can't do both well and it puts too much pressure on them, I know about the shiney new train selling copies of TSW, but....! I want TSW5 and wcml to be a success, that is why I am here, but I don't want to be taken on a ride either and sadly it happens ever year. TSW4 broke it for me, it took ages to fix with patches and here we are now with TSW5 and....the wcml is a car crash or train crash, console players reporting bad frame rates and crashing issues with wcml, that doesn't sound enjoyable at all.
PS5 Player here with my feedback for the WCML South. My first journey was a Class 390 from Milton Keynes Central - London Euston. I must say the Class 390 looks absolutely stunning and is enjoyable to drive. I struggled to setup the AWS but I eventually figured it out. I love the Audio sounds when changing from Neutral to Forwards and then with the brakes releasing into the moving off sound. They have been done really well. I also note the distinctive whine sound when accelerating and slowing down sound great too. However at 125mph the train just sounds the same as it does at 60mph and is quiet and innaccurate in the cab. It should sound like the Class 801 Azuma and I also note there is no change of sound when travelling through tunnels which also feels unrealistic. The Class 390 and Class 350 frequency is just about ok and frequent enough, yet I must say the Bakerloo 1972 and London Underground Class 710 timetable is completley underwhelming and im dissappointed by it. Trains are not frequent enough. Im seeing only 1 maybe 2 London Overground services and around 3 London Underground Services. I really wish this is addressed and a new timetable is implemented. I drove the Watford DC line and the Class 710 and I must say it was fun seeing all the trains on the WCML whizz by beside me. I have not drove the Class 350 yet so cannot give my opinion, but I can say that they sound great. One departed when I was at MK and I was very impressed with the sound. One last thing, I love opening and closing the Class 390 doors. The audio is so good.
