Wcmls Major Update (december 2024)

My series x runs fine with Preston to Carlisle and thats a longer route it's strange how people still have issues with this route

 

The length has no bearing, tiles load & unload.

If you get a heavy tile though that’s where the issues start.

 

I have very minor glitches with WCMLoS, stutters here and there but it never fails. This route though? Impossible!

 

Why has the freight trains become shorter in length

 

Could have been a move to help performance on the consoles Dal
Cannot think of any other reason to shorten the freight wagons in length

Nope, due to current performance issues with the route

 

The bodyside door indicator lights on the 350 stay lit after the doors close. I'm pretty sure that wasn't an issue before?

 

Is a known bug and has been filed on Jira.

 

Massive FPS drop when arriving at Watford Junction and Euston. I deactivated all my liveries as it was causing much more instabilities on the route but still, it’s a mess on some places. I’m on PS5.

I’m starting to regret hugely that update which created more issues than it fixed

This has been a perennial bug bear of mine! Intermodal representations on TSW are poor imo…20 boxes max?

 

Same here had a very quick update install today and still have a number of big FPS drops on PS5. I also removed all creators club items and removed all layers on the layer selector.

 

If it isn't too rude to ask how big was your update today on xbox please? My PS5 one had installed in seconds so assuming not very large.

 

The update for xbox x was 3.5gb why is that im assuming it was not very big you

 

PlayStation 5 performance for this route is terrible. 30 to 40 fps around Euston Station. Micro freezes when other trains pass by and stuttering in a number of places. All my other routes play ok I mean there not brilliant but play a lot better than this total mess of a route on ps5. Hey DTG are you looking at this route on consoles what's going on.

 

Yep, I did the update today and I see no improvement.

 

The new update today has fixed the framerate and texture issues I was facing. I can now run the 710 without having to go through a PS1 textured tunnel and the stations immediately outside of London are now fully loading.

Add in the new timetable and finally this route is reaching its potential.

 

Tbf it did take DTG 3 months to fix this route, however they came back kicked butt and actually given what players wanted with an updated timetable and bug fixes I'm playing on the Microsoft store version on my pc but I am really enjoying it now!

 

Played on Xbox S last night after the update, still crashing to desktop. This game is not fit for purpose sadly.

 

I play on xbox x and after update yesterday i played all day without any problems it played really good i think the xbox s does have as good specs as the xbox x that's it may crashing still but I could be wrong tho

 

Performance seems to be better than it was on XBX and it hasn't crashed or felt like near to crashing around Euston yet.

 

I noticed that performance was worse post update for me. (PS5)

 

Not sure if it is an enhancement pack issue or issue with the new WCML update but I can't guard a service currently. I've tried at Euston and first time the train got stuck and wouldn't move (dispatch from cab) then I tried dispatching from the passenger doors, clicked close doors when instructed, stepped off the train to check doors were shut before closing local door and it has failed me 3 times now because 'guard left the service'. I didn't 'leave' the service as such, I stepped off to check doors were shut, as per the supposed dispatch procedure.

 

We're you on time when dispatching?

 

Right, so I've been eyeing up deluxe edition for a purchase in the winter sale. Would you guys say it's worth it now or should I hold out a bit longer?

On PC, only interested in WCML, Frankfurt, Pendo and Vectron.

Frankfurt has been decent from day one (albeit a few issues here and there when running some locos). I'd say WCML timetable is really decent across all the rolling stock now and just needs the finishing touches applied for outstanding bugs and missing bits in the new year.

 

I would say so personally, I think it is (WCMLS) now up there as one of the best. Busy with quite a variety and looks good and I have little trouble running it on my not exactly up to date PC.

However a caveat is that there are still a few on consoles saying they get crashes whilst some say they don't no.

Frankfurt is a good route but doesn't run quite as well but still decently, frame rates are fairly low but not too low that it doesn't run well. It's a very busy route.

 

I tried this yesterday on xbox series x and it seems to be better still a bit of stuttering near Watford but it wasn't to bad atleast you can complete services nice to have 8 and 12 car 350s

 

WCML South is much a former shadow of what it's meant to be, you don't get a busy timetable from the still continuous missing AI Class 390's and the playable 350 services. (Looking at the timetable a notorious 2 hour gap for Southbound LNWR Birmingham NS to Euston services are missing). I wasted money from my own pocket purchasing the Deluxe Edition pack hoping the WCML improvements will match the standards of London Commuter or Southeastern High Speed, I was proven wrong at the end.

Yet there are those who are happy with a half baked route still in a state with tunnels looking as if they were modelled with a Nintendo 64, Incorrect PIS displays as in "Milton Kynes" instead of "Milton Keynes Central/Ctl", Liverpool instead of Liverpool Lime Street/St", "Manchester" instead of "Manchester Piccadilly/Pic", "Watford Jc" instead of "Watford Junction". This isn't on PIS displays on stations, but on train destination displays as well. The Class 710 displays "Watford Junction" and never shows "Watford Jc". Other than PIS, the last services after 00:00AM doesn't seem to display on the station PIS system on the Watford DC Line, instead shoes the next service in the early morning.

It's getting increasingly worrying the standards are dropping with players happy to take a half baked route on what seems to be one of the most overrated TSW routes after ECML, Midland Mainline and Kassel Warzburg. Fair play to Liam who fixed the initial mess from the start, though this doesn't address fully on the route with it's missing timetable on what it's meant to feel. If you can't do it, then simply just do another route instead.

What it looks like will be another New York Trenton will be left as "done" as long as the devs made their sales and is sufficient, then it'll be considered a success as much as the route is left in a state and the players keep purchasing the route. Clever marketing is it. We're still yet even to this day have questions yet to be awnsered on how NYT was released in such as state or even the WCML South as well. Most importantly, why out of all the developers was WCML South made externally rather than internally. The American and the German route was so why wouldn't it.

I think it's really a shame from someone who has a general preference for busy commuter routes whilst being as realistic as possible for the experience has to be shadowed by incompetence within, and yes I'm one of these few people who are satisfied with the upcoming Mildmay line as I at least get to experience an intense timetable with a peak service up to once every 6 minutes within the hour as well as the upcoming Manchester Commuter service.

Whether the devs learn from this which I doubt ever will looking at it's current business strategy, more DLC's will come released in a half baked state if it's for the sake of making sales. Only third party developers seem to be our only hope apart from one infamous developer (*cough *cough).

 

Had a weird moment at Watford Junction, after running an Overground service from Euston. A Tring bound (not) LNWR was idling in the platform and held up another service and an intermodal that had previously overtook me near Harrow. It had the green to depart, a driver, and I even closed all the doors for it manually, but it just didn’t want to budge. Ended up deleting the train and all passengers fell onto the tracks. The next service came and plowed them all! The departure board was pretty accurate throughout the weirdness though.

Also the Overground stations appear to have the correct font now!

 

I would say no from the WCCL perspective as even with Liam's greatest polish it is still not a great route at all.

 

Also in this boat, but seems like there’s still just enough wrong with the route not to bother unless you really want the new content now (I don’t).

A shame as I did fancy having a play on it over Christmas, but the point needs to be made to the bean counters.
Going by previous years, Festival of Rail will come in February along with an even larger discount for the TSW5 route packs. By that point, it’ll be 50/50 that whatever isn’t fixed may not ever be fixed, so I’ll likely just go for it then but with my expectations firmly set and play time apportioned appropriately (I.e. it likely won’t be in my ‘go-to’ route list).

 

The 350 does seem to brake all most too much now! Would really be interested to know if this is truely accurate? Even with just min brake the train seems to decelerate quite quickly!

 

Best to compare it against AP's Class 350 which has accurate acceleration and braking physics (yes - TSC has no SimuGraph but AP overrides the core physics anyway with sophisticated scripting - it's the output that matters, not necessarily by which methods it's achieved, see steam simulation.)

I also cannot believe the 350 in TSW is accurate (it has other issues now like wrong GSMR codes, DRA and VCB permalit, that alone kills trust in the thing to be good). No way José!

Can best be tested on TrainingCentre vs TestTrak. I would do at least two test, a full application from 100 mph, and a 1 bar BC application, taking the time to come to a halt.

 

It seemed more realistic before the update but I dont know for sure. Dont think I have the AP class 350 to compare it too unfortunately .

 

I'm ready. Testing on a 4-car unit.

 

I did ask the question on one of the UK railway FB groups but never got an answer.

 

APC350EP 4-car:

100 mph, full application: 33 seconds
100 mph, min application (0.5 bar BC): 3 minutes to come to a halt.

Now you can compare for yourselves.

 

The braking maybe at sharp now but its better then what it was after the 1st update but best prior that update.

 

I prefer numbers over descriptions. The min application is too strong. Or AP's armchair got it totally wrong which I doubt. Their reputation is a bit different from DTG's, sorry to say that.

 

Well for starters I doubt AP developed the physics of the Class 350 they sell, and the true point of comparison should always be the real thing rather than relying on developers' reputations.

 

Yes they do develop the physics and make the scripts themselves, doubt what you want. If that's real I cannot tell, I can only say with the many things that are wrong with the game, I do trust AP much more as they are perfectionists, and the HST was very quickly adapted after feedback was given and verified by them, releasing a fix shortly after.

And it's not me who started this, but many feel the braking kicks in way too strong. I just delivered a test as a base. You make of it what you want, I don't particularly care about these broken TSW DLC, I did much too long.

No, I have no idea what kind of "proof" or "citation" you're permanently chasing after. Why don't you try to prove the awkward claims you're constantly making yourself for once? Like what you said about MRFS lately? Or ask Matt for proof.

I'm not owing you anything. Do research yourself for once, I have no idea how old you are but you're getting pretty annoying almost stalking me. Ignored from now on, not interested in any more toxic TSW Comedy. Here I come offering a simple comparison with a product from a high quality content producer, and it ends with your stalking again. Try to be helpful for other people instead of jumping on everything I'm posting.

Get back to your bug database for example, that would be productive. I'm definitely out of this TSW forum because of folks like you.
