Wcmls Major Update (december 2024)

Is this like the 3rd version of 350 braking we've had now or something? It's really difficult to be good at driving this train when it keeps changing haha.

 

Is the braking now slower? The profile immediately prior to today’s update had everyone saying it was impossible - it braked like a car.

 

Think it will be slower now. But not played. Just basing off what people said also.

 

I could be wrong, so feel free for anyone in the know to correct me here...

I've always felt the 350 brakes under performed. I've always been told that with most units, braking shouldn't really go above 50% as it could be quite uncomfortable for passengers. To even get the 350 to stop at 50% is a bit of a task. If we use the 377, 390, or 801 as examples all of which have sufficient braking ability. Am I the only one to think this?

As I say, I stand to be corrected by anyone in the know.

 

Would tend to agree with this. I'll have to try a service after the latest update.

 

350 braking is better for me, seems much more believable I think.

I have noticed another bug , that when spawning on foot at Euston , passengers no longer spawn into the concourse, seems to be after the latest patch. Euston seems deserted. This is on PC /steam.

 

After this patch, I spawned at Euston and the 710 started moving whilst it's door were closing. Seems like a traction lock and interlock problem

 

There are still multiple issues they still need to fix . The body yellow door open door lights on the sides of the 350 on all the time, the yellow VCB light on all the time in the cab . The Dra switch not illuminating when set . Have also noticed that PIS screens in the carriages are floating in midair on the opposite side of the carriage ( screen text not physically on the screen ) .

Things seem to be slowly improving but it’s a very slow process .

 

I am still noticing the door alarm sounds on the Class 350 are very inconsistent. Holding your camera on one of doors outside will hear the sounds perfectly. However the second I move my camera to the other doors, the door alarm sounds and door sound effects just goes non existent.

It's going to be a long way for WCML South to even have some basic errors to be fixed. We still don't have AWS ramps at both the Watford and Primrose Hill tunnels, some AWS ramps activate even if there are no warning aspects (One example is driving the stopping Milton Keynes to Euston service southbound with the AWS alarm activating between Leighton Buzzard and Cheddington, this is only mean to be activating if I'm turning onto the fast lines from the slow), other AWS errors include two ramps next to eachother at Harrow & Wealdstone on the up slow lines.

The PIS System is yet to be corrected from "Watford Jn" to "Watford Junction", "Birmingham" to "Birmingham New Street", "Manchester" to "Manchester Piccadilly", "Liverpool" to "Liverpool Lime Street" etc. This applies both at stations and on locos.

 

I too noticed these false AWS speed reduction alarms when taking the full speed straight route through the junctions. There are also a few of those on GWE too which is a pet peeve of mine, having worked in signalling way back at the start of my career. I did report them at one point but nothing was ever fixed.

Conductor mode seems compromised on some services from Euston, as no NPCs have tickets to check and the driver will just wait forever at the first stop despite going through the usual guard motions.

I should probably report all these, but if DTG won’t act on them, honestly, why bother.

 

Not had a chance to run the updated route yet (waiting for patch to finish, erm, patching), but I assume the AWS horn vice bell at some signals departing Euston up Camden Bank are still present?

There’s issues with multiple timetable services for the 710. An infinite red signal at Kenton caused by two ‘72 stock trains at H&W turn back blocking the track. I did report this but DTG wants me to record a clip etc - I don’t have time for that. I gave them the service number and time, surely thats all they need to look into it!?

Also last night ran a 710 service from Watford J - Euston. Got derailed after crashing at Queen’s Park because again, too many 72 stock trains getting jammed up and overlapping the other track.

Nice to have a busier route, but needs to be tested better!!

 

Noticed after update that passengers now will board the 72 stock on WCMLS

 

Haven't had a chance to go on yet, but really hoping this is also improved for the 390. Was quite annoying opening the doors at EUS for pax to board, and then everyone got off!

 

Anyone else noticed better FPS for CC liveries since the update?

 

Also with the Class 350 Interlock Lights not going off when the doors are closed, how on earth did this get past testing? Can't remember which update which coursed this occurrence but its so damn annoying. Grateful for the updates but as per usual the game gets updated and then another bug occurs.

 

Speaking for myself, but I've got so sick and tired of this saga and the way WCMLS is, I'm just not enjoying the route at all right now. For the moment I've given up on it...

Anyway, with that being said I'm thoroughly enjoying the WCML from Preston to Carlisle in the 87 back in 1986... Many layers... A full time table... And a 86 with Mk2F coaches on the way? What's not to love.

 

Are they adding anymore pendolino services to thr timetable

Yeah, someone (matthewgoddard510 might've been you?) posted a list of some (or maybe all, can't remember) in this (or another) thread but it's difficult to add services in at this point to make it prototypical as it's not known what timetable data the original (Rivet likely) version was based off or something like that. Hoping they can find out and make it match, but in the interim at least we have a much better version than the launch version (service numbers wise) to play

 

Good to know but does this now mean approach control signalling is implemented in GWE? Just thinking that if aws is fixed (being a track linked object?) then the other signalling related issues can be fixed? I'm pretty sure this was a no a few months back, but maybe things have changed.

 

Morning, Yes correct, I stated all the Glasgow Central services mainly the xx:30 ones so mainly AI as they are Non stop to Warrington Bank Quay, think it was 8 missing, so if there is 8 missing services that means its 16 because a train needs to arrive into Euston to become that Service. Also Stated the Missing the depot services taking the 390s back to Wembley Depot. Do Struggle to think how Rivet missed all of this when RTT is right Infront of you. Let me find that post I did

Also loads of 390 services are missing from the timetable. go to like 2PM at Euston. Really dead it is.

 

Same as what DTG do most of the time. Release a highly anticipated addon but make a hash of it, release a few big updates to it (but still ignore many bugs), create more bugs in the process, a couple of tiny bug fixes are minor and don't address the issues most people have, then hope that people just get used to the low quality addon as they move all of their resources onto other things.

Rinse and repeat.

They couldn't give a stuff anymore about quality. Once you've bought and got past the refund period, what exactly are you going to do? You can't do anything and they have your money, so they don't care. Bug fixes don't make them money. Nor does it make them money to put proper resources into making a high quality addon which works fully.

 

While not supporting those who call for an outright boycott, I am being far more selective about what and when I spend my money on where TSW is concerned. No longer will yet another UK bus stop electric route or German 70km double track city hop be a Day One purchase. For a sale at best, sometimes not even then. I wait now and look at reviews - the genuine ones, not ambassadors fawning over their free copy. Wait and see what issues get posted and if DTG incline to fix them.

 

A somewhat silly question that I don't know if it has anything to do with the performance of this route and other routes on my PC...

Does the size of the Shader Cache influence the game's crash rate? I read that it is used to store the game's information the first time it is run, so that it runs better the next time.
..
I say this because I see that my shader cache file is no larger than 32MB...

 

You do have a choice. Don't buy add-ons unless you feel that they are worthy of your money.

 

Also, look at reviews.

They can be mostly biased, but give a good idea on how good a particular add on is.

 

Crashing on PS5 at the moment, won't load any timetabled services out of Euston.

 

I've done most of a 350 run (I was called away for dinner!) and it was all pretty smooth (Xbox Series X). It was a rush hour service from Euston. The braking took some (re-)getting used to!

I like the route. It feels 'alive' and there's a good variety of traffic to see. I have a choice: I can either sit here getting angry about the various things that are missing or bugs that are present (and, yes, there are quite a few, some of which are hard to understand) or I can play it and immerse myself in what is there. For me at least, the latter outweighs the former and I am enjoying it for what it is.

 

Ditto. I ran a Bakerloo working from H&W and was passed by continual mainline traffic throughout the run. Its not perfect, but it can be highly enjoyable.

 

Overall I have a similar feeling about the route. There are a lot of fun busy services to drive that make it have at least some of the 'feel' of that section of the WCML which is one of the main things you can ask for in any TSW route. It's so close to having the potential to be amongst my favourite routes if DTG can just follow through on sorting the key remaining issues which for me are:
- Getting all the AI Pendolinos to run at EPS
- Fixing remaining annoying passenger bugs
- If memory allows, adding remaining promised services such as railtours

I can live with the odd rogue AWS alarm if the above is sorted and the other stuff people point out is far less noticeable on a typical run up or down the line.

 

Is this (bold) not fixed in the latest update? They said it would be in the prior one, but then DTG said it missed the cut off, and then it was listed as being in this one?

 

The PIS and destination screen boards on the station and trains are still incorrectly displayed. Any hope of them being fixed at any point?

 

The patch notes said AI trains should now adhere to speed limits but it wasn't clear this specifically meant the issue with the Pendolino and ICE-T being able to go at higher line speeds than other AI trains. Anyone able to confirm?

 

I'm sure I read a player reporting after the update it was fixed for the 390 - but I can't remember which thread, apologies. Haven't read anything on the ICE-T yet

 

That may of been me But yes 390s now do run at EPS speeds. Make sure it’s upto date and all updated if not report it to DTG Alex or DTG Harry and they be able to help you.

 

So doing a run on the london overground Euston to Watford and the inside of the cab keeps flicking between bright vibrant colours to washed out dull colours what's that all about 1st time this has happened for me.

 

They seem to want a video for everything now. The last bug I reported is a basic and easily replicated bug (no headlights working at all on AVL cab car in any situation) and they got back to me wanting a video of it. Like you I have no time to mess around with making a video of something so obvious so I didn’t bother and they closed the ticket. I’m wondering if the video stuff is just a strategy to easily close tickets, I’m sure they get a monumental amount of reports because the game has a monumental amount of bugs.

 

Have done one service to Watford whit 710, before Harrow red light and noticed one 72 stock block the path to siding over platform, i have removed the train and was able to stop at Harrow for boarding the passengers, the 72 stock removed before have reappeared again in front of my train outside platform, then i have removed it twice and was able to continue and finish service

 

I'm starting to experience crashing whit 710 WCMLS

 

It that going towards Euston as I don't have that issue going towards Watford junction

 

Also the same. Doing London Euston to Watford Junction LO service in clear weather and it crashes at Wembley.

Very close to just deleting the whole route at this point as it's just a complete pain and frustrating with the crashes. Unless there's further commitments to thoroughly improve the route I am beginning to feel it's a bit of a lost cause.

I'm on PS5 and all my other routes run smoothly with no issues.
