Route West Coast Main Line: London Euston - Milton Keynes - Feedback

Still enjoying the route, but as people have said, the timetable is just...eh. Many missing services, and services with non-realistic timing. Sad to say this needs some serious attention, and I'm hoping Joethefish may be available in the near future to give this route the timetable it deserves.

 

The lack of station signage at Euston is a bit jarring.

 

Spawned in conductor mode on the San Bernidino and it literally spawned me 0.8 miles from the train…can’t remember the service, sorry.

looped audio as 350 accelerates or decelerates is pretty jarring, on PS5

Cars driving through roads across the routes, seen this on both US and UK routes, not played German route yet.

Missing accurate PIS on trains, although flagged multiple times

lighting! Can of the 350 is very poorly lit especially when in Euston which is also a shocker in terms of lighting, it’s a total immersion breaker.

lighting across the route is pretty substandard in many places, station lighting often bright white in areas where it shouldn’t be.

Passengers not on the supposed very busy Football train in that scenario.

 

Would it be possible to have the driver of the class 350 turn on the light for the passengers at night?

 

This one's a bit silly but I thought I may as well mention it. There is no "legal" way for the player to get onto or off of Platform 6 at Wembley Central due to the only set of stairs being behind an invisible wall.

I wanted to give some detailed feedback and an detailed review however;

Is this now my favourite UK route? Yes

Is it the best executed route by DTG? No - that may seem harsh but it’s a little rough around the edges in places. Timetable is the biggest deal breaker for me. Missing 710 services which I know have been mentioned and some timetabling quirks.

I’m not going to criticise the lack of tons of static stock in Wembley Yard as it might have tipped certain PC’s over the edge.

However, there’s a lot variety fast/slow line action on the Class 350 with 1W/1Y services make it interesting. The Pendolino needs no comment, it’s practically perfect. One of the best additions to the game.

I’m ecstatic we have WCML in the game, personally I think the one of the best sections, despite criticism of length I think you get an awful lot and the variety, express Pendolino runs/ECS moves, LNWR 350 all stops/semi fast/express, 710 stopping, Bakerloo 72 stock, freight. The most variety we’ve seen in my opinion.


It gets a 8/10 for me!

 

It looks like a well-crafted route. Have done one trip between Euston and Watford with the 390. Like all one handled emus, once you've set the train up, there's not much to do, but it's nicely modeled inside and out.
As expected, I passed only one train in the whole trip and even that was a stationary tube train. If that's indicative of the whole timetable, the route won't have long legs for me.

I'm reminded of the disappointment when the NYT route released so I feel the pain of UK fans concerning the timetable.

And it took about 6 months for DTG to fix NYT, a terrific effort from Joethefish.

The good news for WCMLS is that, just like today, DTG initially declined to improve the NYT timetable.

So keep pushing, UK players!!

 

All ai trains on the route go 10mph under the speed limit and so when you follow it you’re either stopped by another train or your’e really early. Sometimes though you will get there late and the timetable is messed up ps4

 

Service 1Y11 is bugged doing this service in guard mode on train display says its train to Euston when in fact its train to Birmingham new street also there are a lot of passengers missing for ticket checks says I’ve got 39 passengers however repeatedly walking through train still only 12 checked out of the 39 rest are missing and this is on series x Xbox

When doing the 350 training module , I notice the pantograph doesn’t go up , when you press the appropriate switches , but the train still seems to have power ? Once I got the train going I then noticed I was able to get the pantograph up , but this is a bit unrealistic as the train surely shouldn’t move with the pantograph down and on AC power?

 

Can still barely hear the horn on the 66 from inside the cab.

Nice the Pendalino and the 350 has layered in at Glasgow already.
I know the WCML has a few issues, the route in isolation is varied and busy.It's good for a thrash with freight too

Where does the game place the concrete cows? In real life they're between MKC and Wolverton, outside of the playable area.

Running a service at night north of Tring, there was a yellow light and the whole track area across both tracks appeared to be lit, with no obvious light source..

 

You fall right through the floor at Bletchley platform 1 footbridge stairs.

 

I noticed some lamp posts adjacent to the track Ledburn Junction which is betwen Cheddington and Leighton Buzzard. I assume these are there IRL but no idea under waht circumstances they would be switched on.

 

Just installed the Overground route on TSW5, and was expecting the class 710s to be available yet they don’t show up.

I thought the 710 would work on 8G consoles, or am I remembering incorrectly?

No LO services aren't available for Gen 8 Consoles sadly . You can spawn them in in free roam though.

 

11 year old hardware. It's not going to get better.

 

Unfortunately not. I’ve tried this and the dispatcher won’t let me set a route or I can’t move the train under its own power. The only way I’ve been able to this is using Scenario Planner.

I’ll once again reiterate my request for flexible timetable layering for 8G players.

 

Do you have a gaming laptop or anything you could play with the Xbox app on, as I have Xbox one and I use my gaming laptop to play TSW5

 

No, and even if I did purchases on Xbox don’t transfer to Steam or Epic.

 

I guess the only way you'll get services is if you make them in Scenario Planner or something, but it won't be the same.

 

Not ideal, but that’s probably the only option here, unless DTG split the timetable or allow layering on the Bakerloo and 710s whilst layering off the other locos.

Not sure if already reported but the Class 350s have no interior lights on at night.

 

PS4 Approaching Wembley from the north all track and scenery disappears for several seconds before reappearing. This happened on some high speed routes in TSW4 and it is disappointing to see this carried over into the next edition.

Overall not greatly impressed - performance is very poor on PS,4 even without other dlc installed.

I’ve noticed Watford High Street platform 1 is missing from scenario planner (see screenshot)

It’s also not possible to route trains into the middle two platforms at Queen’s Park LU, which is a downer when trying to build a scenario for 8G with the Bakerloo.

 

When driving using an external camera, the ambient "forest bird chirping" sound is always in the background. Typically these sounds can only be heard when on foot or from the outside of a stopped train. They are usually drowned out by the sound of your train. I turned the ambient volume down but the bird chirping was still noticeable. I have also heard of a similar issue on FTF.

 

The Class 390 traction motors aren't mixed very well. When sitting in the cab you can hear the recording start over every 2 seconds which just doesn't sound good.

 

I noticed a lot of signals on queens park LU showing a green, while the map says it red. That was my first impression of the wcml, then i loaded the Frankfurt route.

 

First run on the line took the 0752 from Euston to Tring in the 350 . Quite impressed overall , it was better than I expected considering some of the feedback . Had lots of yellow aspects all the way up to Tring a reasonable amount of AI , an enjoyable run . Got tripped by TPWS approaching Tring with approach control . Took me a while to recover the train . Anyone know the exact procedure ? But all in all first impression was good . Certainly this particular service was good fun .

What happened here then?

 

A list of bugs with guard mode

- The rear cab class 350 buzzer does not register, causing the user to have to use one by a door even if they were in the rear cab for the doors

- If the signal button is caught by accident then the train will pull away before interlocking the local door

- The AI approaching stations is awful with large jolts forwards and backwards with traction motor audio doing the same

- The Guard Timesheet also somewhere between Milton Keynes and Tring skipped forward a station causing it to believe im at Watford when still at Kings Langley

So many bugs for only 1 feature on a multi feature and £60! game

 

In addition:
- No return buzzer from the Driver (unrealistic)


And lastly not a bug but:
- Realistic journeys such as Tring to Stonebridge Park are deemed invalid due to the service not calling there. No one in the TSW world ever interchanges then i guess
