Yup, Platform 9 & 10 are both just under 200m long. 8 car only.
DTG, can you comment on whether or not there are still concrete plans and active work being done to offer a second patch of fixes for the route? Not asking for a release date, but rather following up on the promise of a second patch.
To be fair DTG announced this as the first of two fixes so there should be something coming soon.
I am well aware, and that has little to do with what I asked. DTG has a very lengthy and well documented history of officially promising patches and then waiting for the fervor to die down, and never mention it again. They've even gone so far as promising that patches to fix major issues were "almost done", and then a year plus later refuse to even acknowledge that there is a problem, or there ever was a patch. So I think it's reasonable to ask how things are going and try to ensure that people don't just forget about it and that the community holds DTG accountable for their mistakes and their promises.
I am simply asking someone from DTG to confirm that as was promised, there is a second patch in the works, that it is currently being worked on, and that it will indeed be released soon. I'm not asking for a promise date. Just a promise that their original promise will be honored and not another "DTG Special". That's all. That may sound harsh, but Sam himself I think will admit that it's reasonable given the history just to ask questions like this, and I think I asked it very politely. Releasing the first patch reasonably quickly certainly bought some goodwill, but for some of us, not quite enough to offset all the times they've burned the community on things like this. Since the first patch there has been nary a peep from DTG on the second patch, and the community hasn't brought it up.
Let them try and have the community forget..
DTG staff can delete posts but they can't delete screen grabs saved on my Hard Drive
What can DTG say?
DTG "We're working on it right now."
Customer, "When can we expect the next patch?"
DTG "Sorry, we cannot give you a specific date."
Customer, "When can we expect the next update?"
DTG "When we have something to tell you."
At least someone is trying to make the route more usable:
I appreciate your suggestion, but disagree and have no intention of changing my posts. I have made no accusations about WCML South, only referenced past documented instances of DTGs behavior with patches. I suggest that you stop trying to discourage me from asking a polite and reasonable question to DTG.
This is extremely unfair and has absolutely NOTHING to do with my initial post and question. I am very, very, very clear, in multiple posts, that I am not asking when it's coming, but for confirmation that it indeed is being actively worked on and will be released for all the reasons I stated above. I would appreciate you reading what I actually wrote and not misrepresenting my intentions or words.
Do you seriously think that DTG would abandon the route?
I honestly don't know. I want to think they wouldn't due to the visibility in the community of the WCML South issues. Again though, they have a checkered past with these things so I think it's fair just to poke and ask if it's still in the works. It's a bit like that one unreliable buddy we've all got. You want to trust that he'll remember to grab the beer for the party like he said he would, but you're probably going to check in with him to make sure he remembers.
Again, for those who have already claimed I am accusing DTG of all sorts of nefarious things, I am accusing them of nothing with the WCMLS patches. They haven't mentioned anything in a few weeks and I'm just asking for confirmation that it is indeed still being actively worked on. That's all.
FYI You've linked a private group so we can't see the content.
Also, to everyone else, I don't know if I need to explain this or not but some of my posts tend to be tongue in cheek, guess it's not always easy to get that across in text format.
Being hypothetical here but I wonder if DTG is ripping it up and starting again. Experience has taught me that reworkings create more problems than they solve and that Plan B is often the better solution.
I'm glad you've seen the light
I’m looking forward to when this route is up to scratch! The first patch made a big difference, let’s hope the second adds even more. When oh when will DTG learn the lessons about sending a product out unfinished? It’s never a happy ending!
Has anyone else tried running up and down the line with a free roam scenario? I made one with no AI trains just to explore the route and to get some basic experience creating scenarios.
I don’t think this simple scenario ever runs at much below 60fps and if it does I haven’t noticed it, which makes me wonder if the problems we are all seeing arise largely from the number of AI services normally running in the background.
Not just the number of AI services, but the fact that they're operating really terribly optimized and scripted trains. People have been complaining about performance of some of these trains for awhile but DTG ignored it...until it blew up on them.
Really looking forward to the next update for this route - any chance of a quick update Sam?
Also waiting on any update on what is happening, Surely it's not too hard to communicate with your customers.
Really wouldn’t surprise me if there is no 2nd update
Hopefully it isn't going into the bin like the promised and ready update for the TGV. Would be certainly not customer friendly.
2nd patch is now in testing, will update you when we have more information and is ready for release.
Nice one Jamie
That is good news to hear, hopefully not too much longer down the rails.
Only 15% off in the sale for a route still in development?
Thank you Jamie for getting back in touch with us....
Thanks for the update Jamie, much appreciated!
Yep, Thanks Jamie, see you here next week, same time same place?

Interesting to see this thread has now been unpinned, I would have expected that to happen after the second patch is released. For a minute I thought it had been deleted when I noticed it was gone from the top. :P
"Out of sight, out of mind..."
Except for anyone that cares
Oh well... just keep posting to it to keep it on top of the pile then.
Bump away.... we don't want this to become another TGV Réseau now do we?
We unpinned the thread because this the second patch is in hand and we try to avoid pinned topics where possible. Since the initial conversation had died down there was no need to keep this front and centre. No subterfuge on our part.
This is also your reminder that bumping threads is against forum rules. Please desist or we'll lock the thread.
So you have to start a whole new thread instead?
No bumping a thread means exactly that, posting the word "Bump" without any other content whatsoever (any meaningful contributing content before the loopholers pipe up)
You can reply to this thread just don't follow Expat16's example.
Aah, good, thanks.
Where will the new patch be announced first, here or some schmucky social media platform?
last time it was a post in the News & Updates forum.
You will find it posted here in this forum under News & Updates
Still no news?
I just upgraded to a i9 9000k. The frame rate is overall better. Average 25 FPS around London with dips down to 15 especially near Wembley. Reached high 40’s out in the countryside
I've only just actually checked (don't usually stray outside of the cab) and I'm dragging my driver along the ground on the 390, is this a bug or a feature?
Sorry to add to the incessant bumps but wasn't sure if this was something previously reported and I'd missed it (I recall seeing someone else experiencing it but can't find the thread)
Perhaps he was trying to troubleshoot the pantographs, before the train took off unpowered without him!
But seriously, I'm pretty sure others have also noted the driver going AWOL. I remember several similar pics elsewhere. So no, you're not alone.
And no apology necessary, your post wasn't what I'd personally call a 'bump'. Rather, a genuine issue of concern directly relating to the OP topic - that adds to the discussion. And a discussion that shouldn't really end, until a proper working fix is finally delivered. Hopefully, as promised this won't be too much longer. Fingers crossed.
That's also pretty much my experience, on a fairly meaty rig (not too disimiilar to yours). And unfortunately the regular dips to 15 FPS last for quite a few seconds each time - which makes it pretty painful playing. This is already after turning my normal high settings (max everything) way down.
I apologise to everyone for not (so far) managing to get those promised demo route performance videos up. I'm really struggling to manage any acceptable recordings - with an already poor in-game performance for this route, the extra hit to FPS from video capturee software is proving a real problem. No wonder, the poor 'Colonel' in his live stream, had such a very tough ride that demo night. I'll keep on trying in the meantime. Though hoping DTG Patch No 2 might make such illustrations of the problems unecessary. Like everyone, I'd love to see (this great in principle) route running well - it would be a real boon to the game if this important U.K. route worked better for most players.
