In the world's most obvious suggestion given the announcement of Newquay - Par, let's talk Kernow.

I have two concepts of the era and I think either suit the route (both?), so I'll focus on the extension element.

The route should, obviously, go to Par. It probably should have done in the first place, or have ended at Truro. This is a 4½ Mile extension from St. Austell, meeting the line to Newquay there, and extending the featured Cornish Mainline in the route to 44¾ Miles.

I'd also make the case for the Falmouth Branch. Bringing five stations (below), it would revitalise Truro's role in the route as a hub for players to switch services - much like St. Erth could be - with the appropriate mainline services.

    Overall the route would have:
    17 Stations (+6)
    60 Miles (+16¼)

As well as several modernised sections of track if set in the modern era - including some formerly single-track areas.

As you can see, this extension would form a fantastic five-way Cornish network, and, even if Falmouth is ignored, all it would take is the short connection to Par.

BR Era - Class 43 HST (BR InterCity)
The BR Era is lacking one, major thing - InterCity. The Class 43, with it's iconic InterCity livery, is the perfect fit.
While we already have the HST in two routes and one gameplay pack (which also features a similar livery), we don't have a truly old-style HST. If you ask me that's quite the loss.
The HST is quite enjoyable to drive and I think the Cornish Mainline may well be the perfect fit.

There are cases to be made for other locomotives, and the IC Class 47 could perhaps layer in from one of the Just Trains routes to satisfy that gap.

Modern Era - Class 175 DMU (GWR)
The Modern Era appears much more simple to figure out.
The Class 150 and Class 802 from Riviera Line, HST and 166/165 from GWE/TVLs, and the Class 220 for added CrossCountry; what's not to love?

There is one particular miss - the Class 175. Recently acquired from TfW, these units have since replaced the Castle Class HST units on the Cornish Mainline - even seeing service on the Newquay line.
Bringing the 175 to the game would enhance both a modern WCL and the Atlantic Coast Line, which is why I'd say it's the best pick.

Naturally, the Castle HSTs would probably be more popular, but I think less useful, especially as the GWR HST already exists in some form.

Anyway, I hope something is done with WCL. It's a route that, whilst not executed in the best manner, sits with a lot of potential if handled right. And now that Cornwall, for the first since TSW2, is back in the picture - it's time to revive WCL.

I completely agree. This is a very realistic suggestion :)
