Where have I been? I'm back after the DTL issues over the weekend, apologies for the absence but the best thing is I'm back making suggestions for the community and DTG themselves The Suggestion: Hey all, TrainGeek08 here, back again with another suggestion, today that is the West Highland Line between Fort William and Mallaig, but instead of 156s and Black 5s on the Jacobite like today, I'm suggesting this in the 1980s with prime diesel traction going over the West Highland Line Stock included in base route: The British Rail Class 27 diesel locomotive in BR blue And the British Rail Class 37/4 'Tractor' diesel locomotive in BR Large Logo blue Training (In Training Center): Class 27 Introduction Class 37/4 Introduction Scenarios: Summer Special: (Difficulty - 2) Drive this 27 on a summer special service bound for Mallaig with the only stop in between is at Glenfinnan Tractor, William? (Difficulty - 3) Drive this 37/4 during a storm from Glenfinnan to Fort William whilst trying to keep to the schedule as you are the stopping service on the route Highland Prep: (Difficulty - 1) Choose between prepping a 27 into service or prepping a 37 into service at Tom Na Faire depot in Fort William prior to working on the West Highland Line for the day Landslide past Banavie: (Difficulty - 2) There is a landslide just past Banavie bound for Fort William, so services are starting/terminating at Banavie, drive this 27 from Mallaig to Banavie before passengers are transferred onto a bus to head to Fort William Timetable: 1985 Working Timetable Modern Day Timetable Pack (Potential DLC), Layers & Stations coming up on Page 2...
Page 2: Modern Day Timetable Pack: Stock included in base pack: The British Rail Class 156 'Super Sprinter' in ScotRail livery The LMS Black 5 in BR black livery with West Coast Railways Mk1 coaches for the 'Jacobite' steam tour Training (In Training Center): Class 156 Introduction Black 5 Introduction Scenarios: Sprinting in the Highlands: (Difficulty - 1) Drive this 156 from Fort William to Glenfinnan where people will alight to take pictures of the viaduct How about Steam? (Difficulty - 2) Drive this Black 5 from Mallaig to Fort William as the sun is setting after a hard day's work on the Jacobite Sprinter Shutdown: (Difficulty - 1) Drive this 156 from Fort William to the sidings for overnight stabling before being deployed on WHL services the following day Timetable: 2019 Working Timetable Layers: Anything from Tees Valley or Northern TransPennine would make sense here as this route is set in the same era as them Stations: Fort William: Fort William railway station is a railway station serving the town of Fort William in the Highland region of Scotland. It is on the West Highland line, between Spean Bridge and Banavie, measured 99 miles 37 chains (160.1 km) from Craigendoran Junction, at the southern end of the line near Helensburgh. The station is operated by ScotRail, who operate most services from the station, as well as Caledonian Sleeper, and The Jacobite, an excursion operated by West Coast Railways. Glenfinnan: Glenfinnan railway station is a railway station serving the village of Glenfinnan in the Highland council area of Scotland. It is on the West Highland Line, between Lochailort and Locheilside, located 14 miles 58 chains (23.7 km) from the former Banavie Junction. Glenfinnan Viaduct is about 0.7 miles (1 km) to the east of the station. ScotRail, who manage the station, operate all services. The best thing about this route: The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct on the West Highland Line in Glenfinnan, Inverness-shire, Scotland, built from 1897 to 1901. Located at the top of Loch Shiel in the West Scottish Highlands, the viaduct overlooks the Glenfinnan Monument and the waters of Loch Shiel. Mallaig: Mallaig railway station is a railway station serving the ferry port of Mallaig, Lochaber, in the Highland region of Scotland. This station is a terminus on the West Highland Line, 41 miles (66 km) by rail from Fort William and 164 miles (264 km) from Glasgow Queen Street. The station building is Category C listed. ScotRail, who manage the station, operate most of the services. That's it for this one folks, hope you enjoyed it, the reason why I suggested this is because I'm going on the Jacobite myself on Sunday, so I'll experience this line for myself for the first time, so that's why I suggested it, anyway put your thoughts below as usual, I've been TrainGeek08 as always, enjoy the rest of your day and I'll see you next time for another suggestion or CC mod release announcement, see you later, goodbye
Great idea. They would really have to ramp up the sound of the locos to be able to hear the thrash reverberate around the mountains - I’d really like to see the 37/4s with individuality, names, Highland Rail logos, snowploughs, Eastfield logos - bring it on!!!!!
And what a way to come back mate! Brilliant suggestion and a wonderful choice of era and locos with the 27 and 37/4.
Oh yeah, the 37/4s would be all unique and have their own names so they aren't the same, and it provides a different 37 to the one we already have in game
Cheers mate, yeah this would be the perfect candidate for a BR era Scottish route and the trains included do make sense, but the DLC is also cool too as there is a modern option if they want to make a modern version after the backdated version and release it as a pack which will make the route as it looks today
Good idea. Modern Day or not this would be cool to drive but I personally think modern day has my cuz of the LMS Stanier Black 5.
Fair enough, it would be cool either way whether it's backdated or not but it would be great if it was backdated whereas the modern stuff could be included in a pack like I suggested
Bring It On and for the Black Five Henry it can layer onto WCML Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe and Peak Rail Derwent Valley Line if the alternative paint for it exists the 1960s configuration. For the 37/4 which model should it use the better one from TVL or the Rivet Games version which is still broken seen on Cornish Main Line St Austell to Penzance?
Excellent suggestion! While I'd appreciate both eras, I would love to see more BR-era diesel traction.
Yep, the Black 5 would layer onto SoS and PFR pretty nicely in fact On the 37 front, the 37 would be a new model as the TVL and WCL variants don't look like how the /4 looks
Thank you for telling me about that how about making GWR Hall Class 5972 with Mk1 from Derwent Valley Line Peak Rail as another DLC. Since younger Generations will recognize the line from the Harry Potter movies due to the Glenfinnan Viaduct being a staple on the Harry Potter movies.
It's a good idea for a film train for the younger generations to recognize the Harry Potter connections
Good suggestion. Have put this one forward previously but all good seeing it again. It's a truly iconic route in any era and it baffles me why we are seeing Birmingham Cross City and Manchester to Hadfield and the like being produced when this is one of if not the most stunning routes in the World. I'd say the 37 needs a sounds rework though.
Thanks, glad to hear someone else has suggested this, it is a great route for DTG to consider, please make this DTG The 37 would have AP sounds if possible to make the Tractor sound like it should
I feel like this suggestion struggles to the route justice - plus you've missed out most of the stations. I would have the BR Era with both the Diesel Locomotives and a Backdated 156, if there was one alongside a modern day era.
I know I missed out some stations, but someone suggested doing that a while back to lower the time I take to make these suggestions and I kinda like the idea of that That's not a bad idea with a backdated 156 but I don't know if the 156s ran up there in the 1980s like I suggested
The 156s entered service in 1989, with a short overlap with the 37s. Also, if you cut stations out entirely to save time, it just makes the suggestion worse. My thread from 2021 details this part of things: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...william-mallaig-does-it-get-any-better.43171/
Oh alright, that would make it viable to include then as DLC Yeah, I used to list every station but someone said to list only key stations and I opted for that but now I'm thinking of taking your advice and go back to the good ol' layout of my suggestions and do what I used to do
Yes that was me , sorry what I meant was to add more variety of pictures instead of just those of stations in a big long list. trainsimplayer does this perfectly in their suggestion of the same route (they also only show the main stations but include more information and pictures of other things like the scenery, timetable and a route map).
That's alright , I thought you meant list only the key stations but maybe I misinterpreted your suggestion Yeah trainsimplayer does an excellent job with their suggestions all the time and should keep doing that and that's what inspired me to start making suggestions, keep up the great work
There's nothing wrong with listing the stations, just including pictures and a description of every one is when it becomes a bit exhausting (I think it was your Cumbrian Coast line suggestion - where most of the information for each station was very similar). Like I said adding more details to other things like the timetable or potential layers would be better IMO. Hope that makes sense now
