I find it annoying and I haven't even played the game yet.

I play this game to drive trains, not listen to music.

I got no indication of what signals are coming up on any routes so this game is being deleted. Complete waste of money

Whether the signals are shown in the HUD or not, is a menu setting. I prefer to drive without the signal image in the HUD.

But I have not got that option of either ON or OFF. Done a couple of scenarios and failed every time as I'm going through RED

Look in the settings for “show next signal aspect” and turn it on.

Yes, it's whatever the opposite of "immersive" is: if I were really driving a train and started hearing music out of nowhere, I think my managers might want me to see a doctor...

Forced music with no option to turn it off? No, it's not just you, it's a terrible idea.

The in scenario music is the only thing truly annoying me. It really should have an off switch. If you have safety systems on its loud enough to miss an alarm and get emergency braked.

However it’s only in the scenarios and I’ll have finished them soon and I doubt I’ll play them again. So only a temporary annoyance.

I don’t get why someone thought this was a good idea. It’s a train game not a movie, we don’t need music to build the tension.

    About the music...

TSW is a simulator. I would imagine most players would be staying as true to life as possible.

In reality, if music was playing, you could miss an alarm or get easily distracted. This would lead to an immediate dismissal.

Had my first couple of hours tonight.
Huge scare when performance was awful. Turns out my undervolt profile on the 3060ti was corrupt.
One that was sorted, gotta say I am pretty pleased. Agree with others that the game in general looks better, including the UI, and performs pretty well.
I am not as picky as some on here. That's not meant as criticism, we each have our own needs and expectations.
To my eyes, the new routes seem like they have taken a step in the right direction, when it comes to foliage and scenery. I know some will say some of the scenery is not up to scratch in certain areas, but I am driving the train, not sightseeing.
I recognised Doncaster as soon as I approached, which was great, as I spent many afternoons on the platform as a youngster.
The Interface and HUD are a great step forward. The aspect bar is a really great addition, and it seems the team are working on making it even more user friendly, which is really good news.
On my machine, DX12 runs far, far better on my system. I run at 2k, with everything turned up, except the sky (Which on my system is a FPS killer).
Lock the FPS at 45 and its nice and smooth. It will actually run at 45-80 fps, but PC is in bedroom, and the 3060ti becomes a fan heater. :D
At 45 fps, it stays nice and cool and Gsync keeps things smooth.

Going to finish with a few small negatives, to balance things out. Bearing in mind its early days.
    1. Overly bright external lighting, especially when sunny. GOD mode helps, as do the tweaks from Jetwash. On a cloudy day, the game shows how good this game really can look. Correct lumens or not, the sun needs turning down.
    2. Track bed on EMCL at times gets blown out, again, due to the lighting. Its not a nice look.
    3. Not convinced by the new OHLE. Perhaps I had just got used to the old stuff.
    4. I actually think at times the game is too crisp. I have started experimenting with Nvidia image scaling, as the slightly softer image makes the outside world look better IMO.

All in all, I am happy. Its not perfect, but then I never expected it to be.

Looking forward to getting some old content later in the week. Be interesting to compare some runs in 3 and 4, both on visuals, and performance. I am sure I will not be the only one doing this.

Not had chance to try PS5 yet.

Someone pointed it out earlier, I think under the "Accessibility" section of "Settings" (which makes it sound like parameters for people with disabilities). Overall it'd be useful if the game showed an example before & after graphic for each setting so people had a clear sense of what's being changed or controlled by each parameter.

Really hoping that this trend of quality continues. It does feel like a lot more work went in this 3 routes than we normally see in DLC. Blackpool already looks promising DLC. Fingers crossed for upcoming DLC.

Where are manuals for new trains? There is a new point system that adds points for "correct cab setup". How can I setup cab correctly without any manual? Training lessons are dumbest (release brake -> go forward -> apply brakes -> that's all). Displays are not working at all (ex., OEBB 4024) except for speedometer.
Too many bugs in Vorarlberg route... (I've played only on this route yet).
    • There are some signal repeaters not linked to main (or distant) signals with wrong aspect.
    • Some signals behind catenary pillars on a straight line, so their aspects are invisible until you are at 150-200 m before. Hopefully, these bugs will be fixed.
    • Passenger train stop points in timetables are not linked to stop plates on platforms.
IMHO,TSW4 looks more like an arcade game for photo mode lovers, not like train simulator.

P.S. Too many beautiful words on presentation, but the changes to the game core are insignificant (as I can see). It should be TSW 3.1, not TSW 4.

From "train simulator" to "arcade game for photo mode lovers"? Sounds like an entirely new game to me ;)

Unfortunately DTG has been against providing manuals ever since TSW2.

One other thing I've noticed after some more runs, night lighting has been much improved. Especially Antelope Valley Line, there's a lot more going on either side of the railway tracks. Much better - between this and the improvement on the distant scenery, it feels like a big step in the right direction, which I very much appreciate.

I have to say, Antelope Valley is stand out. Head and shoulders above the other two routes imho and it really does feel ‘next gen’

Can't give much about my impression so far. The release on Steam has turned in to one massive unprofessional fiasco, as ever.
