Now, this idea is probably outrageous, highly implausible, and something that will almost certainly never happen. But what if there was a toggle that allowed players to switch every engine and piece of rolling stock in the game between TV Series and Railway Series versions?

I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out. It would give players the freedom to experience Sodor in whichever style they prefer. Fans of the television series could keep the familiar models they grew up with, while fans of the Railway Series could enjoy designs that are closer to the original books. In a way, it would be like having two different interpretations of Sodor built into the same game.

Of course, we're already in a situation where many players are hoping for more characters, locations, and content, so a feature like this would probably be very low on the priority list. Realistically, it would require an enormous amount of work and resources. Still, I think it's fun to throw ideas around while we wait for future announcements and updates.

What makes the idea appealing is that other platforms, such as the popular Thomas content found in Trainz and Roblox, have shown that both Railway Series and TV Series versions of characters can coexist and be appreciated by fans. It would be fascinating to see Wonders of Sodor take a similar approach and celebrate both sides of the franchise's history, giving players the choice to enjoy whichever version of Sodor feels most authentic to them.

Correct. It would mean having to develop and test twice as many models for every DLC, which would no doubt pretty much double their cost and make them unattractive, since people would probably be interested in only one version or the other.

Yeah, I knew the idea would get some pushback because it sounds pretty ambitious. I completely understand that it would take a lot of time, resources, and development effort, especially when we're already waiting for more characters and content.

Still, I think it's a fun idea to think about. Dovetail has years of experience building trains and railway assets, so if anyone could pull off something like this, they probably could. They could even take inspiration from Trainz, where Railway Series and TV Series versions of characters have existed side by side for years.

Do I expect it to happen? Probably not. But it's still an interesting concept that would be a cool way to celebrate both sides of the franchise.
