0701th301282.jpg Hard to pick a favourite but I think the class 25 has to be up there. Having had a ride from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield behind two of these, nothing else comes close. The sheer racket they made through Totley tunnel is etched on my memory.....as is the pork pie I got from the buffet. I took this from the footbridge which used to be inside Manchester Exchange station but is still visible in TSW2 at the end of platform 11 Manchester Victoria.

    43. British Rail's finest hour, and part of that last great wave of UK engineering innovation that also produced things like the Humber Bridge, Harrier and Concorde.

Probably the BR Class 37 - gotta love a tractor!

Even then I love the Class 20,Class 08 &HST just as much too. There's just too much choice for this to be a fair question! ;)

Class 58 isn't it? I've only seen one in my life when I was changing trains at Peterborough- must be over 30 years ago now.

As for me- Deltic (Class 55 for those who insist on putting a number on everything and get me thinking of NBL Warships when they mean IC125s).

    Mmm... Deltics.

You've seen every single one in the British isles? That's quite an impressive feat to have seen them all then come up with such a polarising statement!

I prefer old trains as modern one tends to looks almost the same but my favorite is the Class 373 because it’s the “British” one I take mostly and I’m gonna miss them as there is not that many left :/. The other one is the 390 in its Virgin livery ( gone but not forgotten )

Yes, that fun little train with the funky gearbox by a country mile. The Class 50, 55 and any hydraulic are also in there. Ooh and the Class 59 and anything with an EMD prime mover. And......... :D

I have to be biased and say the 317s. Ive grown up and still currently living next to a station that still runs them as they're currently in the process of being scrapped :(. Sure they might not be the best for reliability in recent years, but just looking through all the livery variations brings back memories :)
