For Eastern Europe it might be feasible Germany to Poland like Hauptstrecke Dresden Görlitz Görlitz Moys Breslau because German speakers cannot use Polish language city names instead they will be using the German name for a Polish City Breslau (Wrocław) Görlitz Moys (Zorgolec). Another possibility is Elbtalbahn Dresden Hbf Bad Schandau Schöna Bodenbach (Decin) Aussig an der Elbe (Usti). You will run across this issue German speakers start using German names for a foreign city that used to be either German or Austrian control. The Ukrainian city of Lviv is written as Lemberg. If you want a western Europe route you can look at my Aachen Lüttich route L37 since it can merge with Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen if the common origin point is either Brussel Zuid Bruxelles Midi or Köln Hauptbahnhof
DTG have banned the word 'Russia' in naming of stuff. And they then JD comes out with all this waffle about why. To me that suggests they are not in 'Love' with Russia no? DTG have the arrogance to think that by the mighty DTG banning a word will somehow make Putin feel guilty. If you cannot separate the people of Russia to it's leader then there is something wrong with you.
wasn’t aware they banned the word, also haven’t seen any statement on why anywhere. don’t think theirs any need to love any county but I of course see your point on the separation of state and citizen.
I agree there is no need to love any country which was why I put it in quotes but I'm sure you would agree there is no need to be really petty about it either like DTG are doing.
I for one I'm a big fan of the Russian Railways (RZD), I don't care what Putin gets up to. I mean when you watch vids from trainspotters the drivers almost always toot their horn/whistles for the camera, seems friendly. They got stunning varied routes & a vast amount of powerful retro & modern, electric & diesel traction to choose from, all in cracking livery sets and that sweet Sapsan, probably the best version of the ICE3. So what's not to like? The only technical issue I could imagine if in some universe this was a possibility beyond even obtaining the license, is the Russian wide gauge, since it is broader than Standard it isolates them to a route designed for the new stock.
Same and for Training Centre it must support Russian gauge which means Dual Gauge. For the RZD M62 TE109 locomotives own a route that has them in operation they track towards mileage run on their German version DR BR120 DR BR132 due to Russia Exporting them to former East Germany. Russian Shunters will count to Alco RS/RSD-1 due to the US exporting them to RZD in the 1940s.
An Indian here, my perspective on this... I'd love to see my railway represented ( TSW or elsewhere ) but I'm concerned about a few points. India ( mostly ) uses 'Broad Gauge' which is 1676mm. ( There are metros with 1435mm along with MG & NG routes, but BG is what comes first when you google 'Indian Railways' ). So, it would be incompatible with most of the existing stuff. Indian Railways is a 'mass transporter'. It isn't built for speed or frequency, but to transport a large number of people / cargo to large distances. Also, you might be aware that we are a country of 1.4 Billion people. That's why Indian railway stations and trains look like this ( most of the time ) - With TSWs current capacity of NPC spawning, I doubt they'll be able to simulate this without melting everyone's computers... ( And it's not an Indian train if you can count the number of passengers ) Rolling stock is fairly standard in India. Coaches are either ICF or LHB types. And most of the locos. basically use very common bodywork and construction ( for cost savings ). ( You can spot the similarities ). This might end up like the German situation we currently have with red boxes & Dostos. Licensing will be an issue. It's all bureaucracy at the top, so it would be difficult to convince them. ( Also, I'll avoid details but DTG would be looking forward to massive controversies, do they ever do Indian routes with details that 'surround' them ) That's why I personally look forward to Japanese trains in TSW.
The other technical issue is getting a decent amount of sales of a Russian DLC. A large portion of the potential customers would likely come from Russians, but sanctions prohibit doing any kind of business with Russia. No matter how awesome Russian trains are, it'll remain unlikely to see any Russian content for as long as sanctions are in place.
You are correct on that one how about Ukrainian routes potentially back dating them to Austria-Hungary era around Lviv which was written by austrians as Lemberg Galizien
I don't think we should expect much help from the Ukrainians for research and resources. They're kinda busy defending their country ATM.
Alright well I ain't living under a rock now, hence why I said 'if in some universe this was a possibility'. It's true you're more likely to be interested in something if it's in your country, Russkies have their own train sims for that reason. But I dare say there is a moral imperative never to consider it, even if supposed sanctions are rescinded, what with how the DTG has openly picked a side now. Other than that, my second choice is Chile, the Tocopilla Nitrate Railroad specifically.
I would love me some S7/REX7 route - starts at Floridsdorf, then does the Stammstrecke till Wien Mitte, takes a turn towards Rennweg and Kaiserebersdorf, then goes via Schwechat Airport... at Hainburg Personenbahnhof it shuts down the rear half of the consist (usually two 4746s do the route) and continues to Wolfsthal where it terminates... this has the Stammstrecke crawl, speedy sections (especially around the airport and Schwechat refinery) and then mid-speed and beautiful views around Hainburg (where it travels on a viaduct and you can watch Danube right by)
