This is more a just for fun thread ..some odd things ive tried in TSW are HOBO mode i climbed aboard the rear platform of a double stack train that had stopped rode it down to cumberland.i had spawned on foot in timetable mode ..2nd i climbed onto side of a freight car and rode a bit jumped off when train stopped slowed 3rd ive done cab rides just sit in conductors seat and wait a few minutes till AI engineer comes on duty to run train also on a SD40 2 i go and stand or walk around on the walkways while train is rolling ..I also walk on foot most or all the length of any routes i get
coupling the 642 to any other train with a Scharfenbergcoupler (not implemented, I am disappointed) making a very VERY long train with multiple EMUs (it didnt want to drive anymore lmao) oh in TSW3 I used to step on the side of the staircase on the outer loop station (the hitbox of the "floor" sticked out of the walls a bit) and then jump on passing trains for "trainsurfing" (don't do it IRL especially if there's overhead wires) and idk it was kinda funny
Speedrunning. The goal is to make it end to end without crashing or derailing. Koln-Aachen is great for this. You have to watch one of the curves in a 110 zone to avoid liftoff, and choose the right spot to jam the emergency brake at the end.
In a previous thread, I drove a TGV on the GWR at maximum speed and experimented with exactly where I needed to slam on the brakes in emergency to glide to a stop at Paddington.
probably just driving on the WCML section of the bakerloo line and seeing if i’d end up at Euston (i fell through the ground)
Every route I own at some point I've tried to go past the invisible wall. Rarely have I been successful.
Struggling to remember some examples but I have brung in the M7/M3 units for the bakerloo line at one point, the size of them shows more when doing that I’ve had a Class 323 running round training Center loop at, at least 117mph. And I also used to run the ICE at about 240MPH heading between San Francisco and San Jose.
The full length of the WSR with double headed 8fs with loaded ICI wagons, just making it up Washford Bank at 2-5 mph. Speedrunning the Jubilee with ten coaches on the WSR, Minehead to a stop at Norton in just over 17mins. The ICE train upto 134mph on the WSR.
Some interesting thing s so far..I also tried a few other things ran a BNSF grain train on the east coastway route looked awkward in places due to clearance s ..also spawned a pair of CN GP9ru with auto racks on peak forest .on here catry what others have attempted..
I tried an 08 with tanker wagons, but wouldn't get past 25mph as the brakes are automatically applied. Might be different with the 09 light engine.
Top speed runs. The long decline at KWG (north of Fulda) is perfect for this. A surprising amount of trains have speed limiters on, that is, the speed abruptly stops climbing at a certain point. Some trains don't have it though, so you can get something like this to happen... wonder what RPM the engine is doing at that speed.
I ws thinking about trying a class 66 with some US freight cars on US routes the 1 class 66 they give you in the training center has a buckeye coupler
plus someone did a nice NS scheme class 66 in creators club i down loaded it i made my own UP painted class 66 in TSW3 plus DTG has the UP shield logo decal for creator club
Tried a Amtrak ACS64 on ECML yest it ran decent did BNSF ES44C4 on cath cart circle just to see except for the alerter going off in both engines was ok want to try also a F40ph3 and F125 on british and germany routes
Oh yeah this is great fun. For me its running the 612 on any US route. Made it over the antelope valley line more than twice as fast as the timetable suggests, LA to Lancaster in just under 1 hour, metrolink just needs the right trains it seems
Was trying double headed 20s on freight out of Manchester Victoria. 1,600 tons with the PCA wagons, the 20s slipped and stalled. But with 2,900 tons in the HEA wagons the 20s made the climb? Do the PCA wagons add extra drag? Unsuccessfully tried adding a Peak loco, to the Peak forest route in scenario planner. But it won't save the scenario, just gives an edit or copy options. Trying to use a Peak in scenario planner out of Manchester Victoria, when the scenario starts it's actually a 47
