I just thought i would ask everyone, which classes of BR diesel locomotives they would like to see released next?
All classes from TOPS Class 01 shunter to Class 70 (current GE model) and also including Electro Diesels 73 & 74 are included in this question.
    Tell me your thoughts.

Great call, would be perfect for NTP.
Personally I'd like to see the iconic Deltic included be that on TP services on NTP or as a new ECML route. Appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea but the sound of twin Napiers will definitely P your neighbours off!

Class 69's would be cool, basically they are rebuilt Class 56's. They are quite new since the rebuild process started in 2019:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_69

That means that they can be used on some modern routes :)

P.S. They are planned, there isn't one in existence at the moment.

I agree with the Class 25 idea. The class 69s sound cool, too. Here are some other ideas:
    -Deltic Class 55
    -Class 50
    -Class 57
    -Class 58
    -Class 60
    -Class 67
    -Class 70

Mmm... Deltics. That would get me into TSW.

Class 69 eh? Hadn't heard of them. I wonder what nickname they'd have...

Not sure, but they'd make an awesome double-header. :)

Yes we do. Since TOPS, there have been many classes, each one different but all worthy of reflection.

Fine, but seeing as the class 20 is releasing soon there wont be a BR era loco releasing for a while.

The Class 69 isn't a BR era loco, it has been anounced in 2019 and is expected to be converted in the upcoming years so it is quite modern. However the base (Class 56) is indeed BR era.

    Interesting question :D

Being Grids equipped with EMD engines, i would suggest 'Greds' from a combination of Grid and Shed?

I like all of these suggestions. All from the high end of the power spectrum.

But then you could also call them "Shids" which might be a more catchy name :D

Indeed, all of those suggestions of jedi247 could be great additions to the game ;)

Class 55 should be included at some point but you would need a suitable route for it. Other than ECML I don’t know where else it was used.

They were 'relegated' to work on the NTP when they were being fased out by HST's on the ECML

Deltic on NTP. Awesome, if a little overpowered.

    Never have too much power!
They did a lot of Newcastle/York to Liverpool runs in their latter days as well as trans-pennine travelling post offices so do fit into NTPs timeframe.

I do believe they were withdrawn in 1981 or 82, the year before NTP.

Is that where they were going? We moved to Durham in '81 to a house I never liked much but afforded some compensation by giving you a view of the ECML from the station south to Red Hills cutting especially from my room which was at the top. The Deltics, already relegated to secondary services, made an immediate and lasting impression and I'd usually not get to sleep until after IIRC 11:20 when one would make the uphill start from the station with a parcels train of twenty or more and leaving everyone within half a mile in no doubt how hard she was working.

1982. Second of January. That evening Dad and I walked up to Wharton Park by the station, because we sure as hell weren't going to see anything from the house in the fog, and discovered that two or three hundred other people had had the same idea. Royal Scots Grey howled through the station onto the viaduct and disappeared immediately but you could still hear her of course and we all stood until the last echo died away before everyone started leaving largely in silence and, if I was typical, oddly thrilled and deflated at the same time. Her arrival at Kings Cross was on the ITN news later as if it was the last day of steam.

That was that then- except it wasn't. Lying in bed that night I thought I must be imagining the sound of a Deltic but looked out of the window anyway. The fog had cleared and sure enough there was the silhouette of a Deltic running light perhaps having been kept in reserve in the event of 55022's failure. To this day I have no idea which one she was or whether she was heading for preservation or the cutters but it felt like seeing a ghost that I was the only witness to.

Would love to see the class 14, especially for WSR (maybe finally include little freight services?).

And the Deltic is a must for TSW in my eyes!

55009 'ALYCIDON' was the back-up loco that day. She ran light engine ahead of both 55022 and 55015, but only for part of the journey. I wonder if what you heard and saw was 55015 'TULYAR' heading back south to York. Napier Chronicles says that 55015 travelled south from Gateshead to York on the 0F50 working, but doesn't give a time, but it does appear to be in the evening.

Ah there we go- it would have been near midnight but destined for preservation in either case though Tulyar has been on her uppers for a while now. IIRC she had worked that last train north before Royal Scots Grey did the return.

    Thank you.

Yes, for the diesel BR era ex-employees to play with, seeing as though some of us used to drive them in real life, we remember the fond memories, any objections take 'em to your Union representative.......:D

There are 10 BR loco's including the class 20, so no more are needed.
