I think what that shows is that Forum regulars are not a representative sample of the player community. DTG's play stats- they get those continuously from all the distributors- consistently show TGV to be among the most-played routes overall, and the most-played route that was never included with a base game.

Not too dispute anything related to the TGV, but forum users are still players of the game, they don’t represent everyone, no one does, but they indisputably represent several.

For Germany, my favorite is between the BR 101 and the Vectron.

For the UK, it’s way too difficult to pick a single favorite. But it’s a draw between the 20, 31, 101, and 142. Can’t forget the 465. And the 700. And the 43…

For the US, I really enjoy the Acela for high speed passenger runs and the AC4400 for freight. Then there’s the SD40-2… so many trains I can’t pick just one. :D

This is a valid point. I do keep hearing LGV is among the most popular routes in the game but seeing little to nothing in the forums to suggest that statement is even remotely true would lead anyone to think otherwise.

there’s several reasons that could be.

well 1 is DTG data, not the first time that has been flawed

2, route released a while ago, when would the DTG data be from, could be recent but still not the only point

3, I myself and most likely others have played LGV a lot, I just don’t have much reason to mention that

theirs many more reasons, but for a final the forum doesn’t really have much discussion on who plays what the most which is ultimately the question, there was the World Cup style poll, but comparing route quality more than route play time against all routes, wasn’t going to point much at LGV.

the forum remains a limited number of players compared to total, but certainly a representative of those players and most likely not an overly unique representative.

Makes sense. I can definitely see somewhere around the launch of the route it was wildly popular for not only being the first French route but also a dedicated high speed route.

Nowadays though, there’s plenty of other routes to scratch the high speed itch. ECML for one, Boston Sprinter, and Kassel-Würzburg which gives you a nice long run.

Personal attacks are against the forum rules. My capabilities of forming an opinion are not subject to your judgement. I've reported you and put you on my Ignore list.

It's perfectly alright to voice an opinion, or to say you don't like me. But you are making statements and false claims. That is not acceptable.

and if you do free roam, you can go up to 2x 16 ICE3s, which creates a long enough consist for LZB to give you a couple 280 km/h sections :D

Also, wasn't the route and loco given away for free at some point to celebrate Focus' acquisition of DTG? That would certainly increase its popularity and play time.

Ed: Noticed this was already mentioned by Matt#4801.

The 31 is good, but sometimes the sound acts weird, going from notch 9-10 makes less exhaust sound. The 20 is too quiet from the cab, but otherwise good. The 40 is good all round. My favorite is the 37 though, apart from the awful horn.

Out of the 66,47,45 and 33, I like the 33 and 45 the most.

The 150 sounds quite good to me , as far as how I remember them.

1 Class 40 ‘Whistler’ - superb period cab, sounds and how it operates
really feels like you are driving a big heavy 60s diesel

    2. Class 33 Crompton - a RL favourite of mine as I can remember them at London Waterloo as a child and on the tramway at Weymouth (always a surreal and wonderful sight).

    3. Class 08 (and by extension 09) - the ubiquitous Class 08 shunter is great fun, lots of scenarios and come on, who doesn’t like a Gronk ? The Class 09 is of course a Gronk with different gearing, giving a higher top speed of 27mph versus the Class 08’s 15mph, at the expense of low down torque.
