I see that DTG ignores this qustion in every existing thread. So I decided to try and see if we could get an answer in a new thread. If you think this thread is pointless, you can just delete it, I won't be offended. So why Boca Raton? Let's assume that the whole route to Mangonia Park is too much. West Palm Beach is about the same distance, so it's still too much. What about Delray Beach? That would make some sense, since Amtrak trains stop there (which no one plans to build). But what's the sense in Boca Raton? DTG, do you really think this is a sufficient length, and that the Boca Raton station is a logical end of the route? Don't you think it's the same as finishing WCML_S in Apsley instead of Milton Keynes?
After seeing the route map in the stream yesterday I almost feel as though the choice of route was influenced by Freight Hauled in some way. That's a lot of local industry to flesh out at the southern end, and it isn't even going to be all finished on release!
We had the same thing with Rivet’s Bernina and never really got a proper answer as to why it finished on the high moors and missed out the major junction at Pontresina and the terminus at St Moritz. Just do as I’m doing and vote with your wallets this time round.
Isn't the primary reason always that DTG understand commercially what budget and resources they have available to allocate to a route. We however do not. I don't really think it is any more complex than money time and access. Assume access is ok for this area Assume money and time is not.
I can't see the reason for the poll. The only people who know are at DTG and they won't answer it. It's happened before with plenty of routes like ECML, Berminaline, Manchester Commuter, Cardiff network, PFR, WCL etc. It's annoying when one end point (or both) feels insignificant or baffling. I don't know the area and I didn't find the route to be particularly interesting anyway but it seems that all trains do carry on not terminate there, so I suspect they decided it would be over budget to go further or due to time. That is the reason for most of these decisions I imagine even though it's annoying.
Does cutting the route short at Boca Raton mean the timetable won’t be as big as it could’ve been? Do most services stop at Boca or do they skip it and stop at Delray or prior at Deerfield? such a shame they cut this route short. What’s with U.S stuff getting unnecessary route cuts? First this and then the Bergen Line which really needs the Main Line.
I been thinking the same thing..that due to them adding the freight industry trackage later on south end was possibly the reason, looks like a lot of spurs around miami airport area and hialeah.yards plus that will add more beef to the freight hauler mode later on and matt said in stream he wants feedback after people start playing freight hauler mode
The timetable I looked at seemed to have all services stopping at all stations, including those off map, apart from a couple of express services.
No the TT would had been exactly the same. The only big difference is is would had probably added almost double the TT rail services if they had decided to split them into part 1 /part 2 as done previously on metrolink. Or the services would had been 2 hours long
I do feel a short changed with amount of passenger services. And if anything is to by the other routes there will a lot of yard moves.
