PC Why Do Buyers Of The Standard Pre-order Have To Wait Till Tuesday?

Why is only the deluxe version and above available to play now?

Having just forked out £40 and having to wait till Tuesday to play TSW7 is a bit of a liberty.

Surely if I've bought any edition I should be allowed to play it now.

 

Because that’s when the game officially releases. If you got the deluxe, you get to be a beta tester early via early access which is available for deluxe players.

 

Because Tuesday is the official launch day, the 5 days before it are early access which is eligible to people who have bought deluxe or special editions.

Personally I don’t agree with these paid early access periods that aren’t early access (since the things that developers usually use early access for, aren’t applicable to TSW in a 5 day period).

In any case, the full launch on Tuesday uses a different build with multiple fixes for things, so once it does unlock, you’ll be able to enjoy a less buggy version.

 

Tuesday is the official release date. I guess the early access is good for DTG to see if any urgent fixes are needed before the release date. For example, we already had a hotfix today for conductor issues. It's also a nice little bonus for those of us that bought the full package.

 

Personally I think if the Standard is up for pre order then it should have included early access. When I was considering which version to buy, I did nearly plump for that rather than Deluxe but spotted in time it didn't carry the early access tag. So that would have been two refunds on my Steam record as opposed to just the one. (And now waiting for the free edition).

DTG could have made it a tag clearer by specifically stating all you're getting with the Standard pre order is a little bit of discount.

 

As others have said. Us Deluxe buyers get to be part of a mass-stress test ahead of the official release.
Firstly for any serious game breaking errors missed during internal testing but also so DTG can get started on making smaller fixes for the first post-release fix.

Your experience with the standard release will hopefully be a better one thanks to the army of us trying things out over the 5 day early access period.

But don't panic, my accounts department have a bit of a backlog, so you probably won't get my invoice until the week before Christmas.
