Xbox Xbox Sale?

Are these for TSW4 only or are they downwards compatible. I stupidly bought two locomotives in a sale but if I want them for the edition they were originally released for, according to DTG, I have to purchase them again. Which isn’t fair imo.

 

They look to be TSW4. (Doesn’t help that the cover says TSW3 but the description doesn’t at all) I have no clue tbh, it’s a confusing system, best to have a check on the store for each one, best answer seems to be TSW4 only.

Nothing is downwards compatible, the version you buy is the oldest it works.

 

I bought LFR and it works for TSW3 (as I only have TSW3 and not TSW4). I imagine whatever you buy should at least work for TSW3 as well as TSW4, excepting of course anything that was made specifically for TSW4.

Of note: when I bought LFR from the Xbox store, it automatically downloaded only the TSW4 version. I had to manually download the TSW3 version through game manager. Then, manually delete the TSW4 version (although not strictly necessary, it is only taking up space).

From that list which one should I go for. I have Cajon NEC Boston Trenton Nahverkehr Dresden Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg SEHS BML. Of those which one is the best purchase from the list

 

I personally think the 700 is one of the best addons in TSW, that may be a good one to go for especially if you’re on 9th Gen or PC, for Route if you like BR then NTP is old but a good route.

 

OK then and I already have the 1980s Tees Valley Line

 

Out of the ones you apparently don't have, I might recommend Main Spessart Bahn. Varied services, interesting mountain route, plus MSB provides layers to many other German routes.

 

Anything "Compatible" will automatically give you ownership of the add-on in all games. So WSR should have ownership in every TSW game if you purchase that in any Xbox game.

 

it’s not the same for every addon, that’s why people used to buy the oldest version in order to get it for both.

 

Very familiar with it because that was one of the best routes for TSW 2020 with the Huddersfield Line GWML LIRR. Back then when I played it two years ago I had to use a controller for PZB

 

Yeah this used to be the way it was in TSW2 days. Now it should hopefully be all good forwards and backwards since TSW3.

 

Not so with the Locomotives DB BR 155 and DB BR 182. These were released within the time period of the original game. I stupidly bought the compatible TSW2 version by mistake. They work in 2, 3 and 4 but not the original game that they were intended for. DTG say I have to buy them again if I want to complete my collection. I have bought everything issued for both xbox and steam, so feel a bit peeved that I have to purchase these two locomotives three times.

 

Guess the rule is all over the place I try to stay out advising when it comes to people’s cash in case I get it wrong, I think I’ll refer anyone to DTG who asks

 

So to clarify.
You purchased Train sim world 3 compatible content for tsw 4 and you been able to download the TSW 3 version for TSW 3 ?

Seems to depend on the add-on, which add ons that is I have no clue.

 

Anything thats on sale will be TSW3 compatible at least. They still sell tsw2 stuff but that just grants you the tsw3/4 equivalent.

 

The Compatible badge started from TSW3 onwards and those should be compatible forward and backward (FAQ below). I know it was frustrating back during TSW2 when things only went forwards compatible.

It should do. I've got some content on the sale and I can download them into TSW3. I have got most of the oldest content already but it should be giving you all previous versions. If there is anything not giving a previous add-on, then this is misleading... (I have not had any issues but I can't check every single add-on).

I purchased the TSW4 compatible version of NTP and was able to download the TSW3 version as I dont own TSW4 currently

 

what about if you bought say WSR which is a TSW 2020 route bought in TSW2, it does not allow you the TSW 2020 version on Xbox ? or do you need to redeem it in TSW3/4 so you can in TSW2020? or is it just TSW2 and above content that goes back (talking about content that is available for TSW2020)

 

I have the same problem Willowrpr. I bought two German locomotives DB BR 155 and 182 stupidly for TSW2 by mistake. They also work in TSW3 and TSW4 but I have to purchase them again to work in TSW2020. I am waiting for them to appear in an xbox sale. I have them working in all TSW steam versions.

 

I've just reinstalled my TSW2020 disc (I have no other TSW installed) and can confirm that the only route I now 'own' (to the point where I can install it) is Rapid Transit and the collector's edition content off the disc. All other TSW2020 addons that I purchased for TSW2 are displaying as 'buy now'.. Well blow me down, I never even knew that.
(ps) Resolution and track draw distances in TSW2020 are pretty awful, so not entirely a bad thing that nothing seems to work in it any more

 

Hi JD. Thank you but I contacted Support nearly a year ago and was informed that I have to buy it for a third time. I have bought the original locomotives for Steam and can play them in every version. I stupidly bought the TSW2 version of both locomotives and cannot play them in the game they were released for, TSW2020 and have to buy them again. I am patiently waiting for a sale from Microsoft. I don’t think it is worth £23.98 when I have them already although I would like them in the original and hopefully a sale will have them both in. Matt asked me to PM him during a stream and after his initial response for more information he hasn’t responded since October.

 

but notice though TSW 2020 content in TSW2 / 3 / 4 say TSW 2 on them and with so many not allowing going back beyond TSW2 it does make you think this is by design and not a glitch. So it may be an issue DTG need to take up with Steam / PS / Xbox

 

How does New York-Trenton look these days? I'm am considering it in this sale. Also is the Amfleet cab car compatible with livery designer? I read musings there was issue with it.

 

don’t think that got fixed, but haven’t checked, definitely haven’t seen any patch notes for the fix.

 

Hmm, so which would you choose between Glossop & Trenton? I mean I am bias against single loco routes (don't know about layers onto that specific route), and do have a soft spot for said cab car.

 

i don’t have Glossop but picking between the 2 id still say Trenton, even more so if the Acela is a dlc you own.

 

though if you are an Xbox player be aware the NJ cab car is terrible with Z-Fighting, the NJ loco isnt too bad for that but every other train on that route isn’t pretty to say the least with that issue.

 

Ech, and it's been that way for how long now? I'd like to think it's on a to-do list of fixes somewhere...

 

2-3 years… pretty sure it arrived after they patched the strange cab texture drop with Rush Hour release (4.26 being the culprit in my view)

Matt mentioned it last month, but theirs nothing we can do to see how that progresses into a fix, I’m hoping it’s soon as I’ve put off getting new content till that (it’s driving me up the wall that bug and thus not being able to use my own content never mind new ones)

it’s a waiting game and reliance on DTG from this point.

 

For Me, I went with Main Spessart Bahn Hanau Wurzburg Line due to me playing it two years ago and give layers to SKA HRR
