Now I feel like this has been a long time coming, but the stats for the DB BR 187 from Skyhook games are now finally in the steamdb. This loco will be for Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen: Hopefully this means release isn't too far away, but I am really intrigued to see how Skyhook goes about implementing this loco onto Köln-Aachen and whether it will add any new services or not. Steamdb: https://steamdb.info/app/1282590/history/?changeid=U:25872842
I wonder if some new freight services can be added and those yards near Aachen can be utilized. Also I hope this loco can be used on all other routes (substituting other ones like 185.2 or 155) so we can have more variety. I hope more details can be revealed soon.
Definitely interested to see this one. Köln-Aachen is pretty boring with freight currently, so I’m hoping the BR 187 will populate some of those empty yards and add more interesting freight services. Also really hoping that it subs onto Riesa-Dresden.
The service mode will be of great interest when the release draws closer. On a high-speed line like SKA, the services need to get creative to provide engaging freight gameplay. I wonder whether the 187 will have working GPR-selectors like the DRA rolling stock. Given the proximity to the DRA release, I doubt it, but going back to rolling stock without them will feel a bit weird to me after getting used to DRA.
Better come with new freight wagons a Zags instead of Chemicals it's LPG and I type refrigerator wagons FCS Ballast hopper Fals Coal wagon like RSN Falns DB BR155 Paper roll wagon 2 axle Hbbillns the smaller version of Main Spessart Bahn Habbiins 4 axle paper roll wagon. In real life, one can find Zags lpg tanker I type refrigerator wagons FCS Ballast hopper Fals coal wagons Hbbillns paper roll wagons at Aachen West or Aachen Hbf Yard where DB BR187 is replaced by SNCB HLD77 HLE13. Skyhook games shouldn't pair DB BR187 with Faals-Falrrs because those are meant for DB BR189 or DB BR151 with C-Akv couplers which DB BR187 isn't equipped due to it having buffers and Chains
They better use pictures from railfaneurope.net of DB BR187 under pix DE electric 187 and videos of DB BR187 in action. Otherwise, Skyhook Games haven't learned from their mistake of AC4400CW Union Pacific paint being too tall. For Reference, they need to watch this video of DB BR 187 by Train JJ on Koblenz Mainz Frankfurt Am Main route the west Rhine Railway
The locomotive is equipped with a diesel generator. The locomotive can run at a slow speed on an unelectrified railway line.
Some variants do, but not the ones DB owns It means that the loco has a tank and a small diesel generator it can use to access unelectrified track, like industrial sidings.
Is it confirmed the one coming will be DB? To add to what others have said - it can also do some shunting of its own (imagine 5-10 cars, although it has managed to move about 800-1000 tons on a flat track IIRC). Makes for easier deliveries where the same loco brings in the train under electric power and shunts the necessary cars in without a need for a catenary on the sidings or an extra loco.
If confirmed to have the last mile option I can probably see SKA DB BR187 tutorial requiring players to go to the engine room to Prime the diesel engine for unelectrified tracks for Düren and Stolberg sidings
But hey - we could get some truly new services if that's the case. (Though I suspect achievements would hint at that being a gameplay option)
I don't think this 187 will have this function. I guess it's extremly complex to programm this, especially for a 3rd party. But who knows? What also has to be talked about: What freight waggons will come with it? SKA itself has no freight waggons, only as layer. I hope we get some new freight waggons as neither Dresden-Riesa nor Hamburg-Lübeck had something new.
Can’t wait for this loco, this, the 147 and the 101 were the big German ones I hoped to see in TSW and we finally almost have 2 of them. Hopefully it’s as good quality wise as the 101, especially considering how long it’s been in development. As for services I hope we can enjoy the vast loco substitution that German freight currently has, and that the services on SKA are a little more than A2B.
If that were to be the case looks like Skyhook Games is setting up dual mode locomotives provided they use the knowledge of making a last mile Traxx if Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen DB BR187 was flitted with last mile diesel. Internal code for an Electro Diesel is E
I really do hope it adds new and interesting services to SKA, which aside from frieght is a really good route, but really could use more interesting freight services. And as others said, new freight wagons would be great! I also hope to see it's substitution onto other routes set up properly, so we can see it in as many places as possible .
I start to feel that, we really need German freight wagon pack as TSW Core DLC. Than, freight wagon packed in route DLC's can be switched to "livery version" which will be more interesting in variability than just duplicate them. Livery versions can be simple, (based on colour, or weathered level) or hardcore with different wagon model for same load/cargo purpose.
DLC locos come with their own new layers on their "home" route. In other (extant) routes they are substitutions. They may get layers in future routes (this is less likely with freight locos).

A trip to Aachen has potential to be a rescue run maybe? But yeah looking at those im fully expecting the 187 to be a substitute focused DLC, which I don’t really mind cause it’s one of my favourite German locos, but it would of been nice for some more unique gameplay on SKA.
First screenshot article is now out: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/db-br-187-first-screenshots.46379/#post-386448 But what's interesting is that it's coming next week... …on the same day as Rivet's 1938 Stock.
Will be interesting to see the run over here, personally I couldn’t be less interested in the 38 stock, where as the 187 is much more my play style for TSW.
