Hey folks, Please use this as a question thread for tonight's live stream from this month's Roadmap, which should be published in the next 90 minutes. As a reminder: please don't ask questions we're not going to be able to answer tonight - for example: 'when will X release', 'can we have Y unannounced route/loco', and 'what's the Z untitled route/loco mentioned on the Roadmap'. We'll try to answer as many as we can. Join us from the new time of 19:00 UTC on YouTube and Twitch. Thanks!
when are we going to get the issues that have been long stand fixed like the Signals its been going on way to long and sick of the talk its time for u guys to do the do and stop the talk about a fix we have heard this for way to long now and its time for action if not get a team that will do it right and make shore its tested fully before releasing a patch
Open Beta on PC, before releasing patches, to ensure a decent stable update, I am aware there is a Xbox test group. Other Devs have open betas, might be worth doing it.
Could we get more customization for cycling through the external camera via a controller? The default is FRONT, BACK, FREE. This results in the FREE camera located at the back of the train, which is not ideal for watching trains run by. I would like to see FRONT, FREE, BACK, which I believe would start the FREE camera at the front. Thank you!
One more from me! Could we have the option to drive the BR 401 and BR 403 from KWG on other routes with ICE timetable services, like Dresden Riesa? Thanks again!
Could we have an update on the numerous pis fixes please? With both BCC & SEHS(sure there are others but I only play these two of the TS3 routes) missing destinations on AI services and any services to/from Litchfield City showing Not in service.
An update on the unachievable gold medals would be good too please, including what is being done to minimise this happening on soon to be launched routes.
That would require a rebuild of the timetable to some extent. Can't just sub in a loco into an emu. The 401 has 2 locos on each end so it wouldn't be able to sub into emu services run by the ice3 services for instance. Other routes that would have ice services would again require a rebuild of a timetable to some extent. They have to check if there is room to fit the ice in, make sure everything runs smoothly, update the timings, etc. Some routes were built before an ice was made so updating the timetable to include those would be a big task.
Yea but they also have other big issues. It's not only 1. Issues are big which means it takes a lot of time. Nothing in game development is easy. It's like 1 or 2 engineers working nonstop on the issue so it's going to take a while. They don't have 100 engineers to work with.
You talk about adding the new TSW3 features and improving the signalling on Boston Sprinter, but is there any plans to improve the routes scenery aswell? Considering that it's not in the best shape right now, and that's putting it nicely (see links here, here & here for more details. As well as this thread here for a general deep dive into TSW's scenery problems in general).
What is the scope of the remaining preservation crew updates? Does a "t-shirt size" of small exclude major changes? For example, will the Long Island Rail Road update [small] include any changes to the timetable such as AI-driven Amtrak trains?
The small refers to new sounds, especially the m7 using the m7a sounds and some minor bug fixes. Lirr already got a big preservation update in tsw2 with all the preserved features. This is another small update that came to lirr in tsw3 Large means all the preserved updates need to be added such as tsw2 skybox, improved track rendering, animated crossing gates, pis, etc. Medium is what it is. Already has some, but not all the upgrades.
Speaking of Scotrail Edinburgh Waverly to Glasgow Queen Street is that unlock a 2019 timetable for Cathcart Circle or not? Because there are scotrail tweets and messages about 385s on Cathcart Circle in 2019
Yea. Which I've explained. Dtg have covered this info in a previous roadmap. Large, medium and small means what I said. Large being having to add all the preserved features such as crossing gates, track rendering, etc. Small being really minor fixes cuz the route already has all the features of a tsw2 route. It could be mastery and really small updates. And for lirr, there are no updates to the timetable. Literally just new sounds and some other fixes.
Yes, Small will be relatively minor updates (adding level crossings, or a small feature to a route), whereas a Medium will be a larger feature perhaps with other general improvements, whilst a Large would probably be a series of new features and improvements. For example, the Boston Commuter improvements would probably be classified as [HUGE], due to the amount of time which has gone into the light improvements and resignalling.
I would like to see the addition of the Sheerness line on the Southeastern high-speed line. It would be great. I would also like to see the add-on East Coastway: Brighton - Eastbourne as an extension of the Brighton main line with the addition of a line between Lewes and Wifesfield, rather than as separate add-on.
Could we please get an option for a smaller HUD? Beautiful game but, sometimes the HUD gets in the way. But, it is needed, just smaller please. Also, please have some American freight routes lined up for 2023. Seems like exclusively passenger services are planned.
If that's true, then a freight route will be coming after the additions to Boston Sprinter. I guess that theory will be put to the test here real soon.
Yea, don't worry. They haven't abandoned freight. Some people like passenger, some people like freight.
