I wouldn't know about crashing as I rarely have the map up for that long, but I can confirm that many routes encounter massive lag when the map is zoomed in enough to display the labels over platforms or sidings. Framerate will also stay low even if you close the map, I assume because the labels are still rendered in the background. Either turning the labels off or zooming out far enough that they disappear instantly returns performance to normal levels.
Ok, have got a confirmed repro on the 2d map crash (*only* happens on playstation) - i've asked the team to prioritise a fix for that urgently. MP600 Matt.
MP600 when ever we have tried to repro the map lag issue, we have failed - if you can get me a video of it that would be appreciated along with what you're using for a platform, and i'll escalate that one also.
Good evening. I wanted to confirm the map also gives issues on Series X. Using the map causes regular performance issues on Series X. When hovering over platforms, it often freezes for a few seconds, but never experienced a fatal crash because of this. Pressing X to hide track names however leads to a full freeze where no input is registered (pressing pause also not). After about a minute, the game unfreezes and continues as normal. Zooming in on the map also leads to significant framedrops. Maybe it's related to loading or rendering the track names and details that appear at closer zoom levels.
I have a hunch is based on map labels, I play on a series s and sometimes on a map with a high amount of labels and upended the map it freezes, one other time, which is what made me think it's labels, is when I was at crew yard and pressed X to turn the map names on, and it also immediately froze
Completed the form - would be happy to contribute to the QA process and improvements to the game as while I do really enjoy the game, I find the bugs and crashes quite frustrating and ruins the experience and this is something I’d be happy to help in improving for the wider community.
I agree with u on this be great to help fix the game I love playing the game which just makes me wonna help me it a lot better
Be great to able to do something like this great opportunity don’t come up like this all the time good luck I applyed to do hopefully be good news
Matt I Found the issue why the BR 114 and 143 can’t break on both Frankfurt Routes to let you know if you read my Message The Dosto Steuerwagen for both Frankfurt routes is broken, because he has the Bremsschlüssel activated when the loco is driving, that’s why you can’t Break without the Notbremse on the 114 and 143
Matt, can you please share information about any upcoming fixes for the eye adaptation bug(overexposure) and freight trains track monitor?
Make the Bremsschlüssel off, You Can See This at 19:30 Minute The BR 114 scenario on Frankfurt Fulda has the same issue And for Timetable drives, Check the Steuerwagen if it’s off
Given it some more thought, I'd like to revoke my beta application please Matt. I use TSW as a way to relax after a long, exhausting day at work. I think playing the beta and logging any potential bugs, providing feedback, etc might change the feel of the game I use to kick back into something of a second job. My internet connection also isn't fantastic! Took almost a day and a half to download TSW5 at launch, if the beta is 800GB and gets daily updates, I can see that being a problem with other people in our house trying to use the internet as well. I think I'd rather just continue to enjoy TSW as I do right now truthfully
Sorry it took a bit to get back to you. It can be a bit hard to trigger intentionally, perhaps why you had trouble reproducing it. It seems to happen more on busier maps with more labels and junctions, and gets stronger the longer you are on a route. I notice it most while I'm doing Free Roam runs and it seems to come in conjunction with blurry textures too, so perhaps this is linked to the memory issues? Regardless, I managed to somewhat reproduce it on the nuclear bomb of memory usage, Frankfurt S-Bahn. It's mild compared to what I have seen, I've had it drop to within single digit FPS numbers before, but you can at least see a noticeable drop in framerate here when the map is zoomed in vs zoomed out. This was filmed on a PS5.
With my experience thus far on FSN, I’m actually thinking I just paid £30 to take part in a public beta test….
Matt is the Beta on Xbox a complete Download from almost 800 GB or is each DLC a Standalone like the Base Game?
No way you can expect people to download 800 GB on their console for a beta. Aside the fact that nobody, who uses their console for regular gameplay, has that free disc space available, unless you buy a absurdly expansive NVMe memory extension (for Series X at least).
Forza Motorsport is the Same GB from 156 as the retail Version for the Playtest Builds Wonder why TSW should be over 50% More as the Retail Version
I would expect a Test Client of the Core game being the Training Centre, then any "testing" routes or locos would be a seperate download and linked exclusively to the test client.
Uncompressed install (instead of pak files on PC and whatever the Xbones use)? Already decided too much for my PC and D/L capacity unless it's possible to just have the content installed you're actually testing.
I got that card as well really helps with being able to put more games without having to move game to external memory.
While talking about volunteering to aid the TSW community - can I* just cheekily point out in the awesome service modes thread we're looking for a couple of volunteers to take over from JustWentSouth in maintaining the spreadsheets that are this incredibly awesome resource of the best that TSW has to offer? *If I can't then this post will be deleted presumably
Morning folks - just a reminder to keep things on topic for this thread so we're able to track it better. For questions about the game/fixes, please use appropriate feedback threads or create a separate thread in Troubleshooting
Thought I’d try my chance once again in the beta tester lottery. Ex-railwayman and close to retirement so I should have plenty of time on my hands!
We Need still waiting for the Invite to the Beta. If something is wrong Like The Xbox ID, please Message us Matt that I can Share a Screenshot from Xbox
Matt will respond to the people that have been chosen to join the beta team when he has time he's extremely busy
Matt does a lot for the forums when he’s ready to let the people that got in no he will just need to give him time
I assume that at least one person who is accepted would say so on the forums, so I agree with you there. I applied, although because of my somewhat controversial reputation here I'm not expecting an offer in the slightest!
Actually I suspect a condition of the NDA is that you can’t say you’re a beta tester. In your own interests not too anyway, otherwise just going to get the nitwits PM’ing you to try and get some inside info. The only indication someone might be on the programme, as I’ve said, is they either pretty much vanish off the forum or anything they publicly post is short and none controversial.
On the Forza Forum, You have the Forza Insiders Icon on your Gamertag mentioned so all Can See it public
What's the hurry? Most of us will be overlooked anyway, so best just to presume the worst and move on. Careful what you wish for anyway, beta testing requires a ton of time and patience and is not an early access golden ticket to content.
Also means you can pretty much kiss goodbye to playing anything else, when TSW starts to grate and you fancy a change. Beta testing also quite often entails driving the same scenario or short stretch over and over again until you’re sick of the sight of it!
I imagine it's immensely satisfying work though - there are some parallels with what I do at work and there's nothing I love more than coming home from a full shift absolutely wrecked and feeling my eyes are going to dribble out of my skull, but knowing I really gave it hell!
I'd love to but I play on Epic and migrating can be painful. And why is SKA new timetable not on Epic (100% PC Platform)?
The opposite, actually. When I’ve been involved with beta testing (not any DTG product) the process was repetitive and more than a bit frustrating. You report what you think are bugs or issues but the developer deems them as insufficient to be regarded as show stoppers. The product comes out and you suffer in silence while the angry lynch mob savages the beta testers for not doing their job properly.
Yea I’ve been involved in beta testing updates to our systems at work and even when we mention “show stopping” bugs, rollout happens with limited fixes anyway. That’s just how it goes in the software world.
Half the battle is to get clear bug reports in the first place... In my experience as a dev I find it incredible that the majority of bug reports that I see still don't contain basic information such as the platform that the bug was found in, nor any clear steps on how to reproduce it. Asking the tester who filed the report is generally a waste of time ("sorry, can't remember now"), so I just mark up the report as "unable to reproduce" and move on to something that is actionable. Too many people placing too much emphasis on being "on schedule" and thinking that things will be fixed further down the line...
Quick update - side tracked over the weekend (yes, Roadcraft came out, sorry ) - but will try to get to reviewing the list this week or the weekend! I'm perfectly happy for testers to say they are part of the beta programme. In my experience, none of them want to declare it for the above reasons, and also for the angry-mob reasons you later mention The reason we have quite a few testers is so that nobody feels pressured into testing. If you aren't up for it, then don't End of the day, we have internal QA and it's not the beta testers job to make sure it goes out bug free, it's their gift to help find as much as they can before it goes out. I'm told that very thing from the testers yes. Being part of decisions from the outset, shaping how things go, finding bugs and seeing them fixed, making their opinions known and seeing them reflected makes them quite proud I think. I'm sorry Vern, but, are you calling yourself out here? Sorry, I couldn't resist :-D All meant in jest! I'll update when I've had a chance to go through the list. About 400 of you now so... it won't be a quick review Thank you all for your support though, it means a lot! Matt.
