It will also be where any changelog and plans for its future is. It is not an official thread for the features of the DLC itself: DO NOT POST ABOUT IN GAME BUGS OR REQUESTS AS WE CANNOT OFFER ASSISTANCE FROM HERE. If you want to offer feedback on the DLC: Prefer this thread. I invite you to message here if you have any questions or suggestions about the manual. I also recommend you to show screenshots of your best fault states yet, and let me know if you managed to fix them! About the manual Written by Foobian and myself (Raphaël, but please call me Raph'), and translated into German by Foobian and Lukas, this manual is the most extensive to have ever been written for Train Sim World. It is designed to be used efficiently on PDF readers on PC or mobile, and features every major feature that you need to know to play this DLC, with some extras. The most notable features are: A full description of what is included. The controls of both the BR101 and Cab-Car. Each loco gets dedicated sections on their unique yet important features. They also include screenshots and locations of every important area in each cab. Details about the screens used and their options (MTD in the 101, EBuLa and GSM-R in both). A Cold Start and Brake Test checklist. A description of the brakes and their modes. The Train Data panel or ZDE. The full list of faults and failures as well as the translations of the fault page showing the steps to take in the BR101. The full list of faults and steps to diagnose and fix according to the real life manual in the Cab-Car. 3 extra features that are possible to play with: Door controls, auxiliary loco controls and the passenger emergency brake. How to best use the manual As many of you are probably using a manual extensively for the first time, and to aid with playing the DLC in the best, most efficient way possible, I would like to show you how to best use this manual. These tips are when used on PC or mobile. Printing the manual is fine, you may not however have as many shortcuts and ways to navigate. - Setting up your PDF reader I will be using Adobe Acrobat for demonstration purposes. Other readers like Foxit may also have similar features. The first personal recommendation to help with fast scrolling between pages when needed is to toggle the following options on the bottom right of the window as demonstrated. Zooming to page level and disabling scrolling allows every scroll to automatically change the page. One or two-page view is up to you, both work pretty well with these settings on PC. Second recommendation is to open the Bookmarks tab. Bookmarks are links to different parts of the manual, in this case, it will replicate the Table of Contents for easy access. - Some tips on how to navigate in the document Across the manual, you may come across some blue and underlined text. These are hyperlinks, links which will redirect you to the appropriate chapter in the manual. If ever in doubt when reading a chapter, click on them to continue to that section. Some extra hyperlinks are hidden in 3 pages: The MTD page tree (which redirects to the different chapters about the different screens), the GSM-R page tree (same thing) and the GSM-R display: Click on the buttons to go to the appropriate section (courtesy of Foobian): Plans As this DLC is intended to evolve with time, so is its manual. The next update it will receive is whenever Train Sim Germany decides to release an important update to the DLC which warrants a new manual edition. This is why printing, whilst very nice to have, can lead to people finding that their manual might be outdated some time after, so keep that in mind if you intend to print. The current plans are to add/change: Several typo corrections. Missing LSS 32F07 in the description section of the BR101 Faults. Correcting the name for LSS 32F05 into 32F03 in the description section of the BR101 Faults. A new index page listing all of the used acronyms, their German name if applicable as well as their English definition. In a few sctions of the BR101's steps to fix faults, "In case of in case of a brake failure" is repeated on 6 occasions. This will be corrected into "In case of a brake failure". A description of the base data to input if driving as a light locomotive. More explanations for non-Expert Mode players. 2 more MTD pages: W -> WD and W -> ZSG. More explanations for multiple unit regarding double header/sandwich configurations. More definitions in the Status Bar. A checklist for taking over an already started locomotive. A checklist for enabling/disabling safety systems. Generic steps to take to fix a fault on the BR101 in case it is not reported by the computer. More details can be added if necessary. Please let us know if you find that this manual could use extra details which you struggle to use in game. Changelog of the latest version (1.0): Please consult the number on the top right of every page to know which version you are using. If you do not have any, you are using the first version which we will call 0.0. A new screenshot in the ZDE section to prevent abiguity as the first used screenshot in this section was an EBuLa page. Typo corrections. The timetable subchapter of the manual has more accurate information about substitution with the original BR101 and the routes the BR101 can layer on. The German version is now available! Some final words Everything you see here is subject to change and edit at any moment. A reminder: If you find yourself completely stuck, use the Fault Simulation screen on the EBuLa screen, press [St] to do so, then [3] to reset the faults. DO NOT RESET SIMULATION PHYSICS. As of the 8th of August, just before release on all platforms, I have seen 3 days of reception of the first version of the manual (0.0). I was exceedingly surprised to see how much impact it had on the views over this DLC, and just how much support it got. When we’re advised to “stop at the next suitable location”, is a station the only suitable location? Or are there other suitable locations?
A suitable location is anywhere as long as it does not present a problem once you're stopped. For example, do not stop where there are NBÜ markers, the orange bars around kilometre posts, such as those found in the tunnels of Kassel - Würzburg, as they could hinder a passenger evacuation, or be dangerous in case of a fire for example. You could stop on top of a bridge if you want if it doesn't have such markers or in the middle of a quadruple track line, but you're a bit more at freedom to choose to wait until you find a better place to stop. It just has to be done as soon as you possibly can, rather than waiting for a station.
It has come to my attention that two features that seem pretty important are not explained in this manual and as such, made a note of it for the next version. These are: Adding a description of the base data to input if driving as a light locomotive. Adding more explanations for non-Expert Mode players.
Hi, I just took my first drive of the Expert 101 and recieved an emergency brake application with "ZSG/PNEU" blinking in the status bar on the MTD screen. There seems to be no mention of what this means or what to do in the manual at all, which is doubly unfortunate as there were no instructions on the [St] view of the MTD screen either.
Have you been able to tap on the down arrow? If not then you might need to report this as a bug on the appropriate thread.
There was one other (unrelated and non-fatal) fault that did show up in the [St] view, so I didn't consider it might have been that bug. Either way, I think it would be good for the manual to mention what the "ZSG/PNEU" indication on the MTD status bar means, given that the other messages that can occur on the status bar do get an explanation in the manual.
Will have to study that later. It can easily be summarised as whenever there is a fault on the screen that isn't shown as "St" and is flashing yellow, then it is a fault that hasn't been consulted no matter what, knowing the type of fault when there are so many won't exactly advance or prepare you to solve a fault better. The large majority of messages are gonna be shown as ZSG/KON in the main screens until you go to the status page, and read up exactly what fault you have, but in this case this isn't going to help you as much. It's perhaps interesting to know for sure, and I can try and squeeze it on the manual at the status bar, but I would have to inquire if it's that relevant for international players to know. In this situation I have to try and find a balance between giving too much or too few information. The only time I use the indentifier after the /slash is when it is a fault message that does not carry a circuit breaker ID, to try and make identification of the message easier in the manual, and obtain the translation.
Fair enough - perhaps make it a bit clearer that any text in that field of the status bar means a fault has developed. I completely missed that while I was scrambling to make my train work again yesterday. Thing is, while you know what is and isn't important, the player doesn't, so I think explicitly naming even the unimportant stuff (and explaining that it isn't important) would be really helpful.
Some extra news for the next edition: An extra MTD page will appear: The ZSG page, which has information about the state of 2 locomotives in a sandwich, or double header configuration. Another extra page perhaps? More explanation about the W -> WD page, or aka the faults log. Extra information about sandwich/double header configurations in the multiple unit chapter. I will be researching the extra messages of the status bar of the MTD that are missing from the table. Suggested by mkraehe#6051 I will also be adding the definition of the the fault abbreviations on the right of the status bar. If possible I will also add these to the index. Some faults not being covered by this manual, such as the battery monitoring fail, I will add an extra instruction on how to diagnose non-reported faults on a generic basis (basically: Stop if necessary, check the switches in the engine room, check if your brakes can be released and if you can operate the MCB and take power, just to be sure). Finally, I am thinking of adding some extra checklists of what to do when taking over an already started train, such as at the start of a service as well as enabling/disabling safety systems. At present, this second edition's release date is unknown. Please also note that whilst I will be working with Foobian and Lukas closely, their schedules might make the release of the German edition a tiny bit later. When the release of that next edition nears, I will come back with more information regarding Version 2.0 for both English and German speakers. I will update my starting post to reflect these changes.

Hi Konstantin (deduced from giving it a glance ), First of all, this is a very impressive bit of work you did there, I honestly can't imagine just how much work it must have been to convert this into Russian with so many difficult vocabulary words and railway jargon, so big kudos to you, I hope the Russian speaking community is happy with what you did. EDIT: I'm going to add your version to the links above. So, to answer your inquiry about the differences between the English and the German versions' differences: I along with Foobian were responsible for the English version of the manual, which is the original. Foobian is the creator of the GSM-R and the GSM-R page in the manual. Then Lukas with some help from Foobian again, did the German translation. The area that you highlighted is the corrected version in English, because 4) and 5) were inverted by mistake, but I guess it could be that in the German version, that correction did not make it. I will inform Lukas and Foobian about this. And about changes to the manual, sure! I am already working on version 2.0, which I will then try to use a differientation page, if Word doesn't already have one that is, to make a list of everything that changed/was added, and if you want once we're done with version 2.0 and once the changes are made known to the public, I can send everything you need to know to make the Russian version of it, no problem at all! It's very nice to get some kind of "recognition" from the original authors, it's really very cool, thank you. At the same time, this topic prompted me to make my manual even better. In addition, I tried to explain to readers in Russian from my bell tower that you have "pranks" here in GSM-R, but now I will remove them, since it will get fixed. I have slightly shortened the line spacing in the tables, the manual has been reduced to 137 pages (without notes). But I had to suffer, because when I tried to change the content page (with the auto-title being collected), Word broke the design style of all the tables, but I did not notice it at that moment and saved it. I've been sitting almost all day today and re-ruled it all over again, based on the old version. But, the update is ready and I'm uploading it to TSC right now. About the Cab car faults and failures, Batterie-Ladegerat. Where is the "Hauptschalter Energieversorgung"? It said is in the bottom right of the electrical cabinet but I cannot find it. Many thanks!

good stuff ... even though I havent played this much lately and I have been lucky so far as not to get many faults, and if any, pretty minor ones, I am like... a bit proud of myself I have been able to learn how to get this loco up and running ... all this care about manual, troubleshooting (I am paying close attention to AFB reset thingie)... just feels good having this kind of quality and care in TSW... I am confident you guys fix what can be fixed in time and it will be even better... already looking forward to second teased expert loco
Maybe a weird question (and i don't know if this is the right place) as the 101 will mostly be pulling passenger wagons but... On the Tharander Rampe you have a few freight timetable runs with the 101 expert. For example the 85301 has 44 Laaers autowagons coupled, 1167 tons, and i have no idea how to calculate the ZDE here. so as i understand the first number of the ZDE is 2 for pzb 55, 4 for 70 and 9 for 85? the third number is the length, which is in the pause screen and the 4th max speed i can figure out too The problem is with the BRH. There are a lot of numbers on the laaers and i don't know which to pick. you have this: and also this: and also on the other side I suppose that is just the wagon mass? So my questions: where do i get the wagon mass is that mass for 1 or 2 wagons as they have only a coupling every 2 cars? and where do i find the brake mass?
No. The first number is related to the braking mode you are going to use. The second picture you posted says the Laaers 560 you mentioned can use modes G (2) and P (4). Max speed for the Laaers 560 is 100 Km/h if they are loaded, 120 if they are empty. This info is in another icon in the wagon that you did not post (Looks like a table with columns A/B/C, first row says S 34t meaning that it can go up to 100 Km/h with a payload of 34t, the second row says 120 0t meaning you go up to 120 Km/h with a payload of 0t). Every 2 wagons are considered one. The empty wagon mass is in the last of your pictures. It is 30060 Kg, so you round it up to 31t. If the wagons are loaded, you need to add the maximum weight of the payload, 34t. Total maximum weight of the loaded wagon would be 31 + 34 = 65t. The braked weight is in the second picture, 56t.
Thank you for the great answer to that question. I am actually not sure if the section on the ZDE is sufficient enough to use these carriages, as though this isn't the first time I have been asked about this particular case on the Dresden - Chemnitz route. I wouldn't necessarily want to do a guide just for this route, as this wouldn't address potential future implementations of BR101 freight, or more simply, if people use the scenario designer with a custom formation. Let me know if it's unclear in any way the way it is right now, I might have to look at ways to improve it if so.
I have a question about the first number in the ZDE (BRA - Brake type). With freight trains, there may be many combinations of brake modes in the wagons. For example, you might have the loco + the first 5 wagons in mode G and all the other wagons in mode P. So ... what do you use as the first number? The mode with the worst braking power in any wagon of the consist? The mode that the loco is using?
Make it Easier for us Simpletons please like not add the Expert bit and just the Class 101-Cab Car Easy just get in and drive enjoy the Faux Germany Simulation Scenery.
This will be dependent on what your timetable is set to. So a LL setting (Loco in G plus first 5 Waggons in G) equates to a P setting in the ZDE.
The manual covers the calculations nicely, the hardest is to find what number is where on the cars, so more for some kind of wagon manual Inkar thanks for the brilliant explanation
To make the brake calculation, i do the following pattern: 1. Train lenght of wagons. =Wagenzuglänge 2. Train weight of hauled wagons = Wagenzuggewicht 3. Total weight of train =Gesamtzuggewicht 4. Summary of brake weight (they varie depending on train lenght / weight) 5. Divide (brakeforce : train weight) * 100 There are enough threads and infos, how to calculate the brake force of a train. For tsw important 44 laeers are 22 wagon combinations with 31m each. Same goes for the sggmrrs wagons.

Hey, I have had a few real life issues lately which delayed my work on the manual, so many apologies for that, I do plan on getting back to work ASAP. I was in fact intending to message here today, and half expected someone to get to it before I did :P All of the aforementioned changes + all of the new features of the latest update will be included in it. I have run a few tests to understand the new systems so it's a matter of writing them in. Apologies for the wait and thanks a whole lot for the patience and support.

Greetings people! At present I still cannot offer a definitive release for V2.0 of the manual as we will release it in English at the same time as in German so once the English version is completed, the German version will have to be made soon after. What I can offer however is an overview of what new additions there will be: The expert timetable details for Frankfurt - Fulda and Bremen - Oldenburg. A much, much more detailed chapter about multiple-unit working for the BR101. Several new MTD pages. The full list of statuses that can appear in the status bar of the MTD. New pages about the AFB, Parking brake, Towing and enabling safety systems for the BR101. New pages about testing the magnetic brakes and enabling the safety systems for the Cab-Car (and coaches for the mg brakes). Checklists for: Starting a service with both the 101 and Cab-Car, and to test PZB/LZB and SIFA. New pages relating to the special configurations for the ZDE/Train Data Entry panel (Grunddaten, Ersatzzugdaten, light loco) and what to do if it fails. A checklist for fault diagnosis as well as more instructions on what to do if you cannot fix a fault (cycle the battery) or if that step still did not work. Dedicated pages about passenger emergency brakes and LZB transmission failure. Removing the Passenger Emergency Brake as an extra (as it is now used as an actual active gameplay feature), adding the Pantograph Earthing Handle instead. All of these require quite a bit of polishing and reviewing so consider all of these additions as needing review currently. There are also a couple of things that are being worked on and in which your input might help: An alternative to the LSS/MSS layout for the BR101 and a new equivalent for the Cab-Car. This I am still unsure how to best approach it...I heard feedback that it was confusing and not very useful to diagnosing and correcting faults on the BR101. We have received a suggestion/submission from community member Toot which looks practical, but needs to be considered/evaluated. Not sure what to do here so let me know if there's anything you can suggest to improve that. At the very end of the manual before the credits, a full index of commonly used/technical German words as well all acronyms that are used in the manual. Now that I have never done before so I want to be sure: What are your expectations in how such an index looks like/works? Is there anywhere that explains what all the MFD indicators mean? I understand the PZB/LZB cluster indicators and a couple others from a about a 100 hours of driving but I've never seen the "T" illuminate; and don't understand the others. Sorry if I've missed it in the manual or elsewhere in the forums. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I attached a photo with ones I was looking for a better understanding of. I understand 3-9 are apart of the PZB/LZB cluster but I've only ran the passenger timetables for the expert and the PZB settings never have them illuminate under normal operation. 1, 2, 10-13 aren't specifically mentioned in the manual (I very well could be missing it because I just don't understand their purpose.) Even if they're not simmed it would be nice to have an understanding of them, for immersion.
I am assuming you are familiar with 3-9, hence I will not go into detials about them. 1) "Hohe abbremsung" is applying a higher pressure on the bake cylinders in case brake selector is in "R" when below 160kph (and when slowing below 130kph again). The pressure is then raised to 6,2 (I believe) bar 2) is the door indicator, which is not in use (also on the real loco). In real life the driver will get a signal from the guys in the back when he can start driving. T is simply not required... 10) "Notbremse" means that one of the emergancy brakes in one of the coaches was used. This is now a thing on the E101 after the last update 11) "Prüftatser Lampen" is a switch, when pressed illuminates all MFA lamps (so you can check them) 12) "HS aus" simply means that your main CB (Hauptschalter) is cut off. 13) "Elektr. Bremse" should illuminate if at least one bogie brakes pneumatically if it should actually brake electrically only.
Not on the 101 as I recall. Above something like 60/70/80 km/h is when it comes into play with locos having traditional brakes. Since the 101 has disc brakes, it comes into play under that speed. The 101 uses higher brake pressures at low speeds.
Of course, you are right! I did quote it correct with the 130kph, however, picked the wrong words with the 160kph. I have corrected it in my original post to avoid misunderstandings...
