If it were a need to update the route there would be no 218 DLC at all. It's that easy, unfortunately.

They would need a staff member to manually update all the lights and emissives and light baking who might not always be available if they are working on a million projects all at the same time. Some routes are much larger than others so would take even longer to update it to tod4. Not just a flip switch and it works

    That's unfortunate.

Fwiw, i bought the 218, and it's great, but i almost never drive it because Maintalbahn gets boring quickly and i just can't personally go back to the old lighting.

There seems to be no easy solution to this problem tbh.

I would personally recommend trying the 218 for freight services on DRA, if you have not tried this already. It is my favourite place to use it.

:) Only because they probably lump Switzerland and Austria etc. in with Germany as Continental Europe, which is how I should have expressed it probably.

Anyway perhaps one of the surprises will be a much requested Australian route or the Peruvian zig zag line up through the Andes!

This format does not work. Now we have to scroll all the way down this first post. At least put the new reveals on top.

Are we also gonna have long distance runs with a stop at Düren? I hope so.

Company: We're going to release a free upgrade to something!

To be fair, this "reveal" for SKA was already "revealed" as a reason to buy... TSW4. If we are being charitable, we might say that today's reveal gives more information on specific layers. But, still no release date, which after more than a year of waiting, to still not be revealed today, could be viewed as underwhelming.

Yeah, that's entirely fair - it's always going to be a risk to hype up a series of 15 announcements, and if one of those isn't actually new... But I'm still bemused by the reactions here sometimes.

Why not creating a thread for each thing revealed, so we can comment and react on that particular stuff. On the last day, everything are compiled in a single thread, just saying.

The timetable updates to Koln-Aachen sound amazing. I do wish there'd been some love for the BR204 in there. Love that thing, can't find any routes with services for it other than it's home route, which has but a few.

As a fellow Xbox S player, I, too, would like to know how this update will affect the performance on my console. I fear the additional timetable runs will turn what is currently a good performing route into a stuttering and crashing mess. I’d rather keep the current version on my S if it means I’ll be able to keep it running well.

Those are good ones, and Free Roam is an option too, especially for freight services, but it's an extra bit of setup, so it's hard not to jump to more "ready to play" options.

I know Preservation Crew is never coming back, but would have been great to have them for these TOD4 conversions. I get that it's hard to justify financially though...

I would think that the "New Journeys" timetable would still be available, but you are right, it wouldn't do to have the Series S crashing all the time. It might also be easier on Series S since there is no TOD4, although that's just speculation.

While I'm very excited for the new Köln - Aachen Timetable itself, and really appreciate Joe's work on it, what exactly is the actual announcement here? We've known about this update for a good while, so - four screenshots, the number of services, and which DLC the layers come from? Quite underwhelming compared to a whole new route and a loco DLC...

If I recall correctly, this expansion was mentioned a few months ago. Due to the massive amount of services, its going to be for only current generation consoles (Minus Series S) and PC

The last I recall Joe talking about it, the feeling was that there were probably too many layers for Series S, overall. It was an open question then exactly what Series S would receive, if anything. I don't believe there has been anything definitive from DTG about this. The "reveal" today also didn't mention that this isn't for gen 8, although it probably isn't for gen 8. Do DTG still not even know how this will work, or are they just not telling? Perhaps we will have to wait for the next time this is revealed.

Considering the bml tt also took a while to test and fix the issues, i would think simulating 4000 services will take a while.

Yeah DTG aren't very good at communicating whether certain timetable updates will be coming for series S. They usually only say after the update.

Indeed. It's not very intuitive, having to go back to page 1 and scroll all the way down to each new announcement, then go back to the end of the thread to carry on the conversation. After 3 days it's bad enough, let alone what it'll be like by week 3.

DTG Alex May I suggest a single locked thread to post each day's announcements (like an advent calendar), linking back to this thread for the discussion?

I'm fairly sure the Koln-Aachen timetable is another passion project by Joe The Fish. Since he has had to do other projects in the meantime, this one took quite a while.

If you look at the picture in the first post, you'll notice it jumps from 6/12 to 09/12, so no, nothing in the weekend

Getting myself ready for today's reveal. My wish list avoiding totally new routes....
*Upgrade to newly available AI on Birmingham Cross City.
*Class 730 pack for the above line and WCMLs (choice of orange 3 car and green 5 car units)
*New layer for ECML including HSTs and a new Class 91/Mk 4 set.
*The adoption of the Class 700 timetable mod on the Brighton to Victoria route including 377/6 and 377/7s to add to the variety.

This Gameplay pack is going to be great, the wagons, the more life to San bernadino, and a classic to Frankfurt Fulda. I hope Frankfurt gets a sorting out on the route for consoles as well as pc

Will definitely get the UK one. Additional freight is always good.

Probably getting the German one as well.

Also announced in the article is the WCML enhancements update is coming next week prior to the gameplay pack. Good news.

Sounds like they can't fit in Class 87 railtours without affecting performance and you might have to be careful with layers if you are console.

The UK and German game play packs interest me. The Christmas train on MetroLink, no, its seasonal and, to me a unnessary expense.

Loving both the new UK freight pack and the upcoming WCMLS Update announcement.. £5 seems pretty reasonable to me and it's good you can just choose 1 of the 3 bundles if you don't use the other two routes.

really grateful DTG listened to all the feedback regarding the timetable for WCMLS, because it really wasn't up to their usual and recent standards, so credit where it's due for going back and really enhancing it.. i hope this is a good indicator to DTG that a good timetable mode for future routes is absolutely critical to the vast majority of the players of the game, i've purposely not played WCMLS for ages in anticipation of this new timetable, now i can't wait to finally see it fully brought to life.. and adding some ex-coal wagons for a fiver to the timetable is a good addition for me!

I'll definitely be getting the UK and German packs. Very much looking forward to the WCML enhancements too.

Not sure about the US pack, I'll definitely be getting the F59 though.

I do like these reveals. I look forward to seeing what Fridays reveal is.
