I posted this in another thread on my feedback of the route so far.

I'm not sure why, but I feel a bit disappointed with what was shown so far on the stream. While the night lighting was great, there was nothing else to excite me - just to be clear, I'm a fan of the reused German rolling stock so that's not a problem for me.

However, there's a few things I felt a bit meh with. To me, the route still felt a bit empty. Yes I know it is supposed to be the real life timetable, but most of the bigger stations were empty - a huge contrast to Boston South for example. Although, 350 playable services with 1000 in total including all AI ones does sound good, maybe some better services to show off the Rush Hour feel in the next stream would be good? There also seemed to be a lot of playable services which seemed to average around 30 mins or less, maybe not so bad if there's variety, but I'm unsure for now.

Also, personally for me the route did not look the most exciting to drive on.

I'm a big fan of German routes, but I'm unsure as of yet if this route is for me. Conversely, I was happy after the first Boston Sprinter stream at this stage.

Unfortunately it looked no off the map going AI services were included in Dreden Hbf, makes it feel as empty as all the other major stations we had before :(

I‘m quite sad about this, actually. East German trackage and Hl-signals are the Br 155’s true home after all.

Absolutely. I was rather shocked to see a night run in TSW actually looking somewhat like a real night! :)

I’d like some more information about the actual route. Where do the different fast/slow lines go, stations, variety of services etc?

I looked on the DB website and seems only IC/ICE use the fast line?

Looks promising, but not including the 155 because old consoles are old... Well, that's a bummer. I hope they add it as substitution for PC at least...

See if anyone knows the answer....
    12+43+57+96+28+14+81+25(IC 101)=356 Services.
So why does it say 350 on the menu?

    350 different services.

Trains cannot be cumulated. Some may overlap :)

    EDIT

    Eg 10 services:
    Train A - 5
    Train B - 7 (5 separate and 2 A, as a substitute)

Yeah the 6 may be the few RE50’s ran by the 146.

The BR 155 definitely needs more substitution. It’s an awesome loco.

I think it would've been much better if he showed a service at 8am or 5pm, or just stood on a platform at that sort of time, which was the first thing Matt did on the Boston stream - it certainly would've justified it being part of the "rush hour" series.

No 155 :( a sad day for trains and humanity in general. What’s the point of a new route anyway if you can’t drive the 155 down it in timetable mode. It’s the only truly magnificent German loco in the game (I mean locos in the sense of actual locos, not the TSW sense of all trains being called locos). Scenario creator planner editor maker designer will need to be used. No AI trains getting in the way, just the pure pleasure of the 155, like those 155 services on NTP, LGVM, LIRR, TVL and every other route I’ve put it on in Scenario designer maker editor planner creator :D

350 services, sure, but i spotted plenty services 4,5,7 minutes long, 4 minute services for the 101...come on, just let an ai drive it then, unless it's getting it ready or stabling it I don't see the point.. Or is the duration shown on stream just wip?

I think there's something that was a bit wrong with how it's being displayed given all the 146 services are apparently scheduled to depart at 06:14.
    upload_2021-9-1_12-45-3.png

Also quickly skimming through the stream, those 2-5 minute services are depot runs.

Serious question, if a train does run AI for most of the route and only playable for a small section, do you really want no choice but have the AI drive it all? Or would you still rather have the option to drive it or leave it alone?

Personally, I'd rather leave it to the individual player to decide what they want to do. Even if it is just a short drive.

In my opinion Matt in the stream said that the issue was only related to the starting time of the timetable, but the duration is correct. So it's likely there will be a 4 minute service...

    1. Playing all services is not mandatory.
    2. The length doesn't matter either.
    3. Probably less than 0.001 players did all HMA services, etc. :)

    PS

hundreds of hours of gameplay per route
    I don't think I did everything anywhere /o\

Ok but including a 4-minute service is a complete waste of time on the developers side.

This could be a depot maneuver :)

    PS

Of course, you are right, it sometimes creates an artificial impression of heavy traffic intensity

Don't think so. If I remember correctly there were plenty of 4-minute services showed in the stream.

It could be moving a train into the station, after which you can then drive the train to its main destination. They’d be classed as two separate services if changing ends after the depot move.

So no changing ends after depot move aha

Not that sure it's a depot move... Plus i get the quick ones are fun, but 4 minutes? Seems like a real quick stable..

I mean that's probably the time you get to start up the train and ride it into the station from the yard (which is a too little time for a full cold and dark IMHO) but once you're in the station you can change ends and ride the train to its destination.

Plus if you're talking about moving the train from the station into the depot then my question is why you'd care about the timetable at all :)

The 4 minute ones are for the 101 which has no cab at the other end without the pilot coach

Edit: i checked the stream and the 4 minute ones are dresden - Warnemünde, so no depot it seems

In RRO there were services that took 50-odd seconds to drive from one station to the next. It took longer setting up the unit and loading passengers than it did driving the train, before the AI took over and drove it off the map. There were loads of these services in the timetable too. A 4 minute service, if it exists and wasn’t a time error, takes a veritable age compared with those.

    Boston South (definitely busy)
    Dresden?

I hope we will see good trainspotting actions today \o/

Any chance the cooling tower emissions are toned down?
Currently they look too dark and ruin the views.
Normally they emit a light vapour not resemble a major fire.

THIS! I think people of Dresden would be very unhappy if a cooling tower let out something like this. It should be clean vater vapour coming out. White colour.

I realized, after watching part 2, BR 442 is re-done too. My question is:
What with BR 406 and BR 185.5? I am just curious! :)

The presented new brake features are super-cool and I supposed they are about BR 185.5 loco itself.

PS Is that why we won't see the BR 155 as a substitute? Would it need 'refreshing' too?

The 185.5 will have had some work done compared to the RRO version - the sounds are slightly different and I think the brake timing thing may be new? The 406 is being pulled as an additional layer from Koln-Aachen, so nothing will have been done unless they're updating that route.

  46. The UK has much more variety of trains and liveries than Germany, which is why you can't just grab one train from the southeast and put it on the northwest like you could in Germany.

Yeah, it's really only freight that can be layered, as there's only 4 major companies (DB, Freightliner, GBRf and Colas), and they all operate all over the country, similar could be said for a route set in BR times, where NTP and TVL could easily be a layer for the associated period (this was shown in DLGW). How many layers can reasonably made for a UK DLC really depends on era and area, unlike in Germany where that's a bit less of an issue it seems. (for example, a route set in Bristol could use the GWE 166 as a layer or sub)

I guess there will be one or two pairs of Railtours, some freight with ECW 66 and maybe... hopefully... AI Southeastern trains on London Victoria. But that's about all you can do now.

Yeah agree with you both regarding layers. While this may be quite a low possibility, how about a 313 layer from ECW when released? If Hove is hopefully included, we'd be able to drive the Brighton-Hove shuttle on BML - I'd absolutely love that! :D
