continuing on from where I left off: the first shot captures the 'Belmond Riviera' as she leaves Plymouth preparing to enter Mutley tunnel which carries the railway under the Mutley area of Plymouth. The following 2 shots capture the 'Belmond Riviera' racing past Laira depot towards Tavistock Junction which is immediately followed by the first of the Devon banks, Hemerdon. The next shot captures the resplendent set passing over the crest of Hemmerdon bank at 56mph and on her way to Ivybridge. Finally as to not give too much away, the set sits at Kingswear next to the resident tank engines of the DSR which will be taking some of the guests on a round trip to Paignton and back.
Part 2 of 2 Now about an hour later from where the previous screenshots ended, it is now 7:30am and GB Railfreight Class 66 '66743' is underway again with the 6T80 Huntingdon - Whitemoor service starting in these screenshots from Welwyn Garden City. The train will continue to Hitchin where the train will stop for another driver to takeover the train for the run up the Cambridge Line. Locos: British Rail Class 66, British Rail Class 365 Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough
Great screenshots! Is that the vegetation that comes with the route, or did you change the grass? I *think* I remember that route having a different darker and less realistic grass texture...
DB ICE 2 '402 037-7' leads a passenger train starting at Hamburg bound for Hannover with stops in between at Harburg, Lüneberg, Uelzen and Celle. The journey will take an hour and 20 minutes to complete with light showers of rain along the way and the train will have to manage with a tight timetable. Locos: DB Class 101, DB Class 294, ICE 2 Route: Hamburg-Hanover
More captures from the Standard Scenario "Partial Drop", a stopping service on GAD's West of England Mainline, spanning the entire length of the line (as of v1.1). The train is pulled by a post-makeover SSS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T "Prairie" steam locomotive, in weathered BR black. This is a different drive from the one represented in Part 1, me having botched that first attempt by somehow draining the tanks of much thier water early on. This first image might or might not chronologically overlap with an image or two in Part 1: I ended the drive not long after departing this station. There being no goof-ups this time, I felt comfortable saving the session in-progress. Thanks! No, I'm using the route's stock assets. hmmm... If memory serves, I didn't DL the route until v1.1. I suppose it's possible that different grass assets were used in v1.0 (and earlier). Then again, it might simply be my RWE2 settings.
Ah and that would explain literally everything. Guess I need to mozie on over and dl that route again.
It's an early Autumn morning and Greater Anglia Class 321 '321428' starts off the day with service 5F04 05:45 Shenfield Down Sidings - Witham with no passenger stops. At Witham, the train becomes service 2F04 06:16 Witham - Braintree. Starting at Witham, the train will pick up passengers there, White Notley, Cressing, Braintree Freeport and finally at Braintree. Locos: British Rail Class 321 Route: Great Eastern Main Line London-Ipswich
It's been a busy week here! Happy to see so many great, inspiring or memory-inducing shots. During today's run, looking at the game and out the window, I concluded that the official skies look like the real thing. Or whichever simulation or fantasy I'm living in anyway. However, some of your shader settings are great! I decided to go for the ECML with the TPE because I have relatively few shots there. This week's roll decided to prove me wrong, or fix it - point of view! The TPE North Route actually runs between Newcastle and York, albeit likely under wire and with a different rolling stock. They are responsible for managing Northallerton. Also, being a stopping service, the Express title is a bit ironic. 1) Class 158 in TransPennine Express starting its return trip from Newcastle, passing Castle Garth 2) Kawasaki M8 bound for Grand Central with a Metro-North service through winter fog past window lights 3) Assortment of GWR wagons hauled by a BR Blue Class 33 on backdated BR's ECML 4) Class 43 HST in BR Blue-Gray (white) sprints during BR times on the ECML 5) EMD F40PH brings additional NJ Transit colors to the spring bloom on the Coast Line
Continuing from my previous screenshots, Greater Anglia Class 321 '321428' now becomes service 1F09 06:40 Braintree - London Liverpool Street on an early Autumn morning of 2013. I had to run this scenario with lowest graphics because if I didn't, the game would've most likely crashed during the scenario. Locos: British Rail Class 90, British Rail Class 315, British Rail Class 317, British Rail Class 321 Route: Great Eastern Main Line London-Ipswich
Seventh set of captures chronologically documenting a 70-mile stopping passenger service QD, from London Liverpool Street Station to Ipswich, on GEML London Ipswich DTG route. The train consists of a CW GER T26 2-4-0 tendered steam loco, seen in GER Wartime Gray, pulling five GER carriages. Shenfield: By this point in the journey, we're experiencing a generally more rural countryside, with further distance between stations. I'm now able to maintain boiler pressure at 158-159, close to its 160psi rating:
ScotRail Class 170 '170450' leads a passenger train service starting at Kirkcaldy and ending at Edinburgh Waverley during a cold winters day. Locos: British Rail Class 158, British Rail Class 170 Route: Fife Circle Line: Edinburgh - Dunfermline
First set of images documenting a stopping passenger service QD from London Victoria to Raintree (via Herne Hill) on Chatham Main Line DTG route. Motive power is provided by a GAD-enhanced DT LSWR Adams Radial Tank 4-4-2T steam loco, clad in Holly Green livery. It pulls LSWR Salmon Coaches. London Victoria Station. The journey begins. Passengers have not yet boarded. Disc Code placement is not correct, me having forgotten to look it up beforehand: I had a tough time choosing which of two nearly identical images, captured in quick succession, to feature below. The one jettisoned better showcased the loco's reflective qualities. However, I felt that its cityscape background slightly detracted from the train rather and complemented it: I forgot to record this station's location, a too common failing: Adams Radial Tank is a good choice for this run in that it was designed for suburban service in and around the London area. The elephant in the room; Chatham was an SECR line, not LSWR.
Route: Washington-Baltimore, ECML London-Peterborough, Mittenwaldbahn, GEML, CCFE. Train: AP Class 321, DB BR (2)442, EMD E8, Class 365, AP Class 317, Class 33. Random picture compilation! 1) A ECML shot before Great Northern. 2) The first picture i posted on this forum. Memories. 3) Good old amtrak times. 4) Class 321 fun 5) A classic shot on one of the nicest looking Railworks routes. (i guess i took at the wrong time)
Caltrain EMD F40PH-2 '912' 'San Bruno' leads a 5 coach long passenger train starting at San Jose Diridon and ending at Gilroy with 5 stops in between. Loco: EMD F40PH-2 Route: Pensinula Corridor: San Francisco - Gilroy
"Right away Mate." The night sleeping car express to London Euston prepares to depart Stranraer Harbour, in the charge of a somewhat grimy Stanier Black Five. Route: Western Lines of Scotland (Port Road) Loco: BMG Stanier 5MT
....I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di with the K-Trains Vectron and the beautiful repaint by Calvin9201 from the Rail Sim forum on the Transilvania V2.... Regards Jörg.
The front of that loco looks quite like a truck, Mercedes Actros springs to mind in fact, not a critique, just an observation.
That driver can't seem to keep a steady job. I believe I've seen him work at every steam-era British railway company in existence.
Many great shots this week as well. I'm not romantic about steam but Limeyfox ' shot feels very nice. I didn't drive a photo shoot this week so it's just a roll from my pool. I want to shrink it anyway. Shot 5 is probably not the best to share this week but anyway. The set has a bit of an autumnal feel to it. Do you guys have any shots of the Central Trains 158? Please share. I can't decide the season and would love to get some inspiration. 1) Class 421 on the Portsmouth Direct Line 2) Baldwin-SP Cab Forward on Donner Pass 3) EMD GP9 & SD40T-2 rescuing a stall on Donner Pass, not far below the shot above 4) Busy moments at Cresson on Horseshoe Curve 5) EMD DD35 climbs past Horseshoe Curve
Due to engineering works SPT Rail Class 314 '314207' leads a special Sunday service. This service is 2Z63 15:30 Motherwell - Glasgow Central. The train will begin at Motherwell and continue to Newton with 4 stops in between. Loco: British Rail Class 314 Route: West Coast Main Line North
Eighth set of captures chronologically documenting a 70-mile stopping passenger service QD, from London Liverpool Street Station to Ipswich, on GEML London Ipswich DTG route. The train consists of a CW GER T26 2-4-0 tendered steam loco, seen in GER Wartime Gray, pulling five GER carriages. Yet one more station whose capture I forgot to identify: I added the below image to my TSC Windows Desktop Background folder:
Thank you, that's very kind! Those GWR branch line shots are stunning. I might have to investigate that route!
Additional edit: Loco: Class 143 DMU Route: North Wales Coastal (Conwy valley extension - 3rd party free extension)
Yet more captures from the Standard Scenario "Partial Drop", a stopping service on GAD's West of England Mainline, spanning the entire length of the line (as of v1.1). The train is pulled by a post-makeover SSS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T "Prairie" steam locomotive, in weathered BR black. Whimple:
BR Class 142 Pacer DMU stands at Kirkcudbright as the train prepares to work the 13:45 service to Dumfries in February 1991:
Starting in these screenshots at Peterborough at 07:46am, East Coast Mk4 DVT '82216' leads service 1Y05 05:25 Newcastle - London King's Cross on a lovely, clear Summers day. The train will be travelling directly from Peterborough to Kings Cross with no stops in between on this 55 minute long journey. Locos: British Rail Class 43, British Rail Class 91, British Rail Class 321, British Rail Mk4 DVT Route: East Coast Main Line London-Peterborough
Ninth set of captures chronologically documenting a 70-mile stopping passenger service QD, from London Liverpool Street Station to Ipswich, on GEML London Ipswich DTG route. The train consists of a CW GER T26 2-4-0 tendered steam loco, seen in GER Wartime Gray, pulling five GER carriages. Another station-stop I neglected to identify when naming the capture's file:
Thanks triznya.andras, you mean the edits? No I have spoken to anyone, been editing screenshots for many of my games over the years. Just like the style and effect for a change. Normally my edited shots aren't shots I've posted here before, but from a series I have done so.
I've shared a set of pictures this week in the competition thread, instead of reposting just reference it: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...enshot-contest-2023-week-8.65161/#post-611155 Lovely shots by everyone so worth a peek anyway. Mortu5, this very last picture with the ES44AC in Interstate livery is just superb. The other I really like is the first CSX. Also, welcome back! Zonkered and Decrepitts have delivered wonderful moods. Ardaeshir's set is a great example of really pleasing nonstandard weather. Excellent choices Blazin took us to hot summer, I'm most fond of the London-Faversham photo in the thematic thread. Have a good week everyone.
