Are there hidden services on the route? I just have finished service for class 45. It started at 10am and was 2 min long shunt from the platform in Carslile. Then I didn’t quit to the menu, stayed in free roam and finished another 2 services in the same loco (basically shunt back and coupled to coaches). I’ve earned medals for all services I’d finished. Then I left to the menu and opened the timetable for class 45. There was only one service displayed, the one that I’d started with. And there are no other services in the timetable around 10 o’clock I might have chained the service to.
There are, yes,. There's too many to add to the list of services in the menu. Mostly it's shunting or light loco moves. I actually like it. It allows me to simulate a driver's shift rather than cutting back to the menu, increasing immersion.
Not much hope of seeing that at night though, with the pencil beam headlight! I am kind of remembering the obvious ones, particularly at the north end like Penrith just north of the station and Upperby but the one near at Tebay (I think) still catching me out. Just like a real driver if you are going over the same section day in, day out you know these things. But with TSW I might decide to go off and do something else or even play another game entirely, so by the time I come back the route knowledge is gone. My biggest single issue with the route however remains the frequent stutters and sound squelching which ruins the 87 experience somewhat. I’ve done two trips in each direction now which surely is enough for the shaders to establish themselves. It’s certainly worse than on other routes, even BPO and by comparison the same route in TSC is smooth as butter.
The neutral section signs are reflective and I’ve found they are easier to spot at night as I can see them earlier than during daylight. They really stand out.
I knew at least one person would reply with some variation of "get good". As I said, I'm not a real train driver, and this is a video game. We're not expected to learn the precise location of every single signal and speed limit, so neutral sections should be no different. Sometimes I'm busy enjoying the scenery, or using the external camera. So obviously I'm gonna miss the signs sometimes.
Speaking of markings in the HUD track, I noticed that the HUD track sometimes shows some yellow crosses, I think it's at the Shap Summit switch and then certainly in other places........I haven't encountered this yet, but I practically only ride German and Austrian maps Does anyone know what this means?
I tried one last time to do services in conductor mode last night and still not a single ticket check. I just don't get why I've not had one yet. Still get to dispatch the trains at each station but finishing a 1 hour-plus run on 0 points is frustrating. So many little things still need fixing going by what we've all found - the latest for me being a ECS DMU move from Kingmoor to Carlisle full of passengers - but I put that down to the core game, not JT. Yet, DESPITE THAT, it's probably the best UK route we've ever had and you know Just Trains will sort as much as they possibly can. Just wish I didn't have to buy a steam route I don't want to do some trip workings. For now, I'd rather miss out on those.
Have seen that too. Always thought it indicated there were vehicles standing on the track ahead, such as when entering a freight yard or siding. Seems somewhat more cryptic, then.
This route is incredible! Thanks to all at Just Trains for the extra effort that went into making this such an immersive experience. if you get the chance, I would love to know when the seasonal services appear as AI in the time table. I often choose the services I drive thinking of the chance that I will see (and have to accommodate!) these special runs. Thanks again for all your work. I just finished my first night run and the experience was indescribable.
I have wondered about these as well. Are they the same as the markings that seem to indicate ground signals on side tracks?
Same for me. I'd like to think that JT might have another look at those aspects when doing the other fixes mentioned in here to see if the stuttering and accompanying sound glitches can be significantly reduced. Otherwise very happy with what they've delivered.
I'm currently driving the first scenario, a container train...what surprised me was that the maximum speed allowed is up to 105 mph...is that correct?
That's a surprising oversight, given that I noticed that on a passenger run on an 87 hauling Mk 2 coaches the maximum permitted speed was 100mph, as opposed to 110mph with Mk 3s. So JT have clearly paid some attention to what the maximum speeds should be for certain types of stock.
The maximum speed on the HUD has been correct for all timetable services that I have ran so far. We have noted the issue with Southbound Liner, and I would add the scenario for the 101 which also shows line speed only. The fact that the scenarios have incorrect information does not surprise me, as this seems to be an issue with scenarios in general in TSW, not just for PSC.
Are the 101 effectively a new model from the games perspective, as none of my Creators Club liveries work on them?
For those interested, I made a rough guide with map annotations as to where the neutral sections are in the Just trains making WCML over Shap and BR class 87 thread. View the post here
Yes, I just drove the Southbonder Liner scenario...otherwise I never drove containers within the schedule...I'll try
I've driven the 87 about 7 or 8 times and have been in cab 2 each time. Has anyone got no. 1 end yet (aside from reversals)?
I do believe that between the first three journey services, you do experience both cabs. Can't recall exactly which is which but would recommend trying that.
Service 0E43 11:00 Hardendale Hardendale At the time of coupling the wagons (at less than 1 km/h) termination with derailment
One thing, the manual also mentions the Class 08 type C weathered version... but it doesn't appear in the basic service menu..... is this related to some DLC layer or is it just like AI somewhere?
Try Hardendale quarry. It's the version covered in limestone dust so should only be used for shunting up there.
It is included with the route however for the service to show up in timetable (0H00), you will need Tees Valley Line and the class 20 loco for the PGA wagons (PGA wagons are part of the class 20 DLC). If you go to Hardendale quarry, the 08 is usually sat right at the top end of the line past the works in one of the 3 sidings.
Also at that time, most of the seated accommodation on overnight trains was provided by Mark 2 stock either the older A/B/C pressure ventilated or D/E/F aircons. You would not generally have found Mark 3 day coaches on the night trains.
Thank You .. I have only map Tees Valey ...... and Loco BR37 can not found ... only HEA and some Freight train SpeedLink with class 87 so I need class 31 DLC and class 20 DLc..great
Very impressive DLC! The route looks nice and the 87 is a joy to drive. Signalling works really well too. However, I did find some small issues with the 87. First, it seems that the train heating cannot be turned off when running light engine. The second issue is about this rheostatic brake isolation switch in the machine room: I can click it to switch it to the off position. However, in the off position the click point disappears, so I can't click it again to move it back to the on position. So once the rheostatic brakes are isolated, they can't be switched back on again. I also really appreciate the inclusion of a manual. However, it would have been nice if it included some more info on how to actually use the included stock. For example, I had lowered the pantograph on the 87 and couldn't figure out how to raise it again. There was no mention of this in the manual and the in-game tutorial didn't say anything about this either. I eventually figured out that you can only raise the panto when the reverser is in the forward or reverse position by referencing the real-life DRS manual someone mentioned on the forum. Although I was rather impressed with the level of detail of the simulation that referencing the actual manual of the real 87 helped me figure it out
Been doing a few short acts around Carlisle tonight. Love shunting with the 08. I have noticed that quiet a few services passing through Carlisle station at night have no lights on in the passenger coaches. I pressed 9 and looked at the headcodes and those AI services are definitely services and not ECS workings. That said the 31 ECS working I've just done from Kingmoor to Upperby has passengers on it, but like my last comment on ECS workings, I think this is more to do with the core game than the route.
So I bought the Class 20 DLC for the Tees Valley map.....Class 20RF has been added to the service menu and it has three Railtour services.....when I actively start them, yes they work...but when I start either another service or they show up somewhere nearby in Foot Mode at a given time...Railtour with Class20 no longer shows up.....that's strange..... And it's also empty in Hardendale For this map, additional DLC layers etc. work very unconventionally.
It's possible there's a way to do this I'm just not aware of - but doing a class 20 rail tour at the moment and trundling along at 37mph because of course they don't have multiple working (unless coupled together) so the rear loco is idle. Would be nice if there was a banking mode somehow as with peak forest. This may be more of a a general game thing.
XBOX Series S LOCATION: Carnforth Bottom End sidings. Section of inverted or corrupted track near signal gantry at Carnforth Bottom End sidings. upload pictures online
XBOX Series S LOCATION: Carnforth Station Junction signal box Another section of inverted or corrupted piece of track at Carnforth sidings, just near the Carnforth station junction signal box. The siding has no name on the map.
To activate class 08 weathered map Tees Valley + Class 31 + Class 20 is obviously not enough.... or is it too seasonal
I refuse to buy the West Cornwall Local route, as it is shockingly bad, and am guessing the weathered class 08 services might require the Seacow and Turbot wagons from it? If you also don't own WCL, that could be the reason the 08 isn't showing-up.
Just had a go as a guard, Did I do well? I counted 38 passengers on the arrival to Morecambe. Didn't even check one ticket.
It's happened to me on every single trip I've done, whether it's the 87 or 101, not checked a single ticket. Given up trying now.
On the map from London to Milton, I tried it on the Pendolin ahead of time....we looked out the window for an hour and nothing....no ticket to check........after departure it said wait at the next station...but that was the first and last Overall, they consider the feeling with the guard mode to be not entirely happy
There is a minor bug with the PGA wagons, they don't visually show any load when loading them in timetable mode, although this is probably a bug with the PGA wagon itself rather than Preston - Carlisle
