I'm a big fan of completing journey mode chapters, and I am eager to see the broken chapters get fixed. New and veteran players continue to encounter these, and I thought it might be better for the community to centralize this information while we wait for these issues to be fixed. I'm assuming it's submitted to testing considering none of the patch notes mentioned it being fixed. So it would have to be the core update if the fix doesn't end up not working
1C23 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads cannot be completed in Journey mode. (6th journey in Chapter 2, Express Driver). An AI train blocks your path at the 4th signal from Paddington. The same train which blocks you doesn't spawn in when you do the service outside of journey mode.
I recently discovered that certain sandbox options, such as removing a train from the map, are now usable in Journey Mode services. Open the map, hover over the blocking train, and click on it. This will present a Remove Train button which will delete the blocking train. I was able to earn a Journey Mode checkmark for 1C23 using this workaround. While not ideal, it is at least possible to complete this service in Journey Mode. I hope that helps!
Thank you for getting back to me on this - I very much appreciate it. I had tried to sandbox a solution on TSW4 but that didn't allow completion of the scenario. You're absolutely right, the same method does now appear to permit journey mode progression in TSW5. Thank you for taking the time to test this and reply - you're a legend. (Same person diff. Account btw - Dovetail's legacy nonsense means I can't link accounts).
Route: Clinchfield Railroad Uncompletable Journey Mode Chapter: Greenbriar turn Bugged Scenario: First Greenbriar Turn - Part 7 - Delano to Dante via Caney I encountered this bug a couple days ago. I did search for the same issue I had and it seems there are some quite old posts about this but nothing very recent. I have provided some workaround here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/clinchfield-delano-to-dante-via-caney.49000/#post-914733 In this scenario, we leave a caboose on a piece of track, switch to a siding to disconnect a bunch of coal hoppers, and then we are supposed to reconnect to the caboose. I did the scenario following the speed limit, and not being too slow, yet i find myself stuck between two red signals as an incoming train is blocked by my caboose and I am blocked by the incoming train. I do believe the incoming train should receive a red signal at some point before the section of track after the caboose, to allow the player to reconnect the caboose and complete the scenario. To complete I was forced to delete the incoming train.
Route: London Commuter Uncompletable Journey Mode: 1D40 London Victoria to Gatwick Airport Just past Wandsworth Common, at the 70mph speed board, the train violently derails; carriages separating and flying off into the neighbouring houses- no points/other traffic are present at the spot the train details, so there doesn't appear to be a workaround.
lorenzo#8176, I am keeping this particular list narrowed to services/scenarios that cannot be completed with any known workarounds, but I may create a companion topic to this one that lists services/scenarios that require workarounds for completion. Thank you for the workaround, and I’m glad you were able to finish the service! I just completed 1D40 London Victoria to Gatwick Airport from Journey Mode in TSW5 on PS5 without any derailments. I have previously experienced derailment issues on London Commuter, particularly when starting a service. I was always able to correct this problem by closing TSW entirely and starting the service again, so I recommend giving this service another try.
I am back from a hiatus and hoping to maintain this topic again. I have retested the broken journeys with the latest TSW5 PS5 build. International Rescue on S-Bahn Vorarlberg has been fixed, seemingly in the 1/21/25 update, despite not being listed in the update notes. The other 3 journeys remain broken. I will retest them again once TSW6 launches. Please let me know if you find any other uncompletable journey mode chapters!
I can't believe that a year later, that this is still an issue. I never knew this though, and this post saved me. Thank you fellow train fan
armus, thank you for these reports! Fife Circle has been added to the list. I've withheld West Cornwall since that service can be completed, albeit with difficulty. Someday, I hope to make a companion post to this one that lists services/scenarios that require specific steps or trickery to complete. I will be opening a ticket with Dovetail support to report the Coastal Scenes bug. I encourage you and everyone else to do the same.
