Collection of publicly available archived documents/drawings/plans/blueprints covering pretty much every area of railways in Victoria from the Public Record Office Victoria:
(Note most of these documents are not online and either need to be freely photographed by any member of the public in the reading room of the archive, or by submitting a copy request to PROV and have the copy received either digitally or in printed form, or by being accessed by a hired research agent.)

Victoria Railways and Tramways, Rules And Regulations (ranging from 1878 to 1997)

Technical Manuals (ranging from 1935 to 1999)

Signalling and Communications Drawings (ranging from 1886 to 1993)

Railway Rolling Stock Drawings and Tracings (ranging from 1859 to 2006 - The series contains plans, sections and elevations for steam, diesel electric, electric, hydraulic and mechanical locomotives, electric suburban trains, rail tractors, carriages, vans and wagons. Essentially from it's description this should contain a huge amount from the start of railways in Victoria to trains in active service right now (barring any refurbishments beyond 2006)).

Description List of Railway Rolling Stock Drawings and Tracings located in VPRS 3426 (Microfilm index to the drawings/tracings collection above)

Drawings, Suburban Cars (ranging from 1917 to 1979 - Includes historical formerly commonplace Swing Door 'Tait' trains (1887-1973), Red Rattler 'Tait' trains (1910-1984), and Harris trains (1956-1988), and the only just out of service Hitachi trains (1972-2014))

Technical Manuals and Drawings, Electrical Workshops, Railway Vehicle Maintenance Division (ranging from 1916 to 1994 - General plans to hyper technical diagrams of components and competent functions functions like wiring and circuits)

General Files, Vehicle Standards and Engineering Division (ranging from 1950 to 1993 - Various test results on Harris and Comeng trains - running tests, and wheel slip tests, etc)

Working Timetables (ranging from 1874 to 1995)

Railway Workshop and Depot Architectural Plans (ranging from 1885 to 1999)

Plans of Railway Station Buildings (ranging from 1909 to 1961 - Lots of still standing stations, and also lots of ones that have been redone since)

Electrical Traction System Design Drawings (ranging from 1923 to 1984)

Melbourne Underground Railway Loop Construction and Loop Stations Redevelopment Project Records (ranging from 1969 to 1993 - Melbourne's only underground section with stations right now - almost every single service uses the underground loop)

Spencer Street/Southern Cross Station Redevelopment Project Files (ranging from 2000 to 2007 - Includes complete blueprints and diagrams of the current modern Southern Cross Station Melbourne's regional rail terminus and major suburban station)

And while on the topic of Southern Cross Station I believe these blueprints come from PROVs collection:
(Note: Overall the accuracy is high but there were some changes before construction; The office building on top of one side of the station was built at a later time with a different design, there was no Westend Hotel or residential towers built, the wave roof does not extend over the Bourke Street Bridge, the Lonsdale Street Bridge was not constructed)

Having watched the TV series of "Outback Railroad" there does seem to be far more to Australian railways than depicted in that series

Yes! The Western Line over the Blue Mountains to Lithgow and beyond would be the ultimate. I was at the Lithgow Loco Depot from 1978 as a Fireman to 1986 as a Driver and I'd absolutely love to relive the coalies up and down The Hill and out to the coal mines and general freight to Bathurst.

One suggested route for the T1 Western & North Shore Line should be from Emu Plains or Penrith to either Gordon or North Sydney, both complete a full service from Penrith to Gordon which takes about 1hr 40 mins, it passes through Parramatta (Sydney's second largest city), and Sydney CBD itself via Sydney Central Terminal (the busiest station in all of Australia), once past the CBD it crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge into North Sydney and can continue on to Gordon stretching at 72.2km, on the Penrith to Gordon section, there are 6 possible stabling yards for the route located at Penrith, Blacktown, Auburn, Flemington, Eveleigh & Lavender Bay (North Sydney). It is also possible to include intercity services which are faster services with limited stops but only terminating at Central, however there is a weekday service that departs from Blacktown and goes to the North Shore (Gordon).

From Penrith to Gordon, there are a total of 35 stations (with an extra 11 stations that this lines does not stop at but passes through)
Most of the rolling stock can reach speeds of 160kph but 115kph is their max permitted speed. As it gets closer to the CBD, the speed reduces a lot from around 100kph from around Auburn and Lidcombe, 80kph from Strathfield to Redfern, 40kph at Central, 30kph once it enters the City Circle, and an average of 60kph all the way to Gordon. The speeds west of Parramatta can be as high as 115kph all the way to Penrith.

The rolling stock that would be included would be:
Tangara T Sets: 1988 - Local service on the T1 (Penrith to Gordon)
    download.jpg

Waratah A Sets: 2011 - Local service on the T1 (Penrith to Gordon)
    1200px-Sydney_Trains_A_set_Waratah_A63.jpg

OSCAR H Set: 2006 - Intercity service on the Blue Mountains Line from Penrith or Blacktown to Central or Gordon
    d546c95c878961f72f550635def61ce4.jpg

Intercity V Sets: 1977 - Intercity service on the Blue Mountains Line from Penrith to Central, can achieve speeds of 115kph
    1200px-NSW_TrainLink_V_set_V22.jpg

An optional set would be the K Sets since they used to run on the T1 but no longer do:
    CityRail-Kset-K85-at-Parramatta.jpg

    Yards & Maintenance Facilities:
    Penrith - Stores A Sets & T Sets
    Blacktown - Stores A Sets, T Sets & H Sets
    Auburn - Stores A Sets
    Flemington - Stores V Sets & K Sets
    Eveleigh - stores H Sets & K Sets
    Lavender Bay - Stores A Sets & T Sets

Yup WORLD is what the name says. Outside of the UK, my only other rail interest is in Australian railways. Specifically NSW, mainly due to 19 yrs of running Trainz. Be great to see something non UK, other than EU or US.

Here are drawings for the Alstom X'Trapolis 2.0 purchased for Melbourne. They are of a similar design to the currently under construction Transperth C-Series from Alstom that will serve Perth.

We definitely need a route for australia so were not stuck with the same old same old. Also it called train sim world but the world has 147 countries with railways not 5 its not very "world" to me.

OMG If we could actually have Queensland Rail say either Beenleigh to Ferny Grove, Airport to Gold Coast Lines. I would literally pay $80.00 plus for such a project to be brought to TSW 2. We now have the TGV and I heard Aussie content was voted number 3 for wanted routes so People want it. Hard thing would be getting the licenses and then figuring out which trains they'd include. Would be nice to see the EMU'S even if they are being fazed out, then you have the SMU'S/IMU'S and the New Generation Rolling Stock

A highly unlikely suggestion for Australia would be the Pilbara area railways, mainly due to route length, landscape, and length of the ore trains, but might as well throw them out there just in case....

A short piece on the WeAreRailfans website appeared about Victoria/Melbourne's classic tait trains and the recent restoration of one to mainline running order.
    https://www.wearerailfans.com/c/article/tait-trains-australia

Although WeAreRailfans a DTG run initiative, it doesn't really mean anything for TS/TSW development. It's still nice that Australian trains are in conversations though.

Sound promising BUT what the chance any of the above listed railroads would allow dtg a license to use them.

    Update on the list itself!
I am moving it to its own thread found here:
    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/australian-proposal-suggestion-master-list.41526/

Please keep any comments there relevant to the list itself. and absolutely please keep discussing and promoting the addition of Australian railways to TSW2 here.

I felt that it would be worthwhile to create its own thread now so that the thread name is more descriptive and easier to find. Also so the discussion within this thread is no longer taken over by the list.

I will probably do the occasional reporting in on this thread about the list after there have been a certain amount of new additions but more as a discussion point rather than an update.

This is a good graphic of Melbourne's metro network that shows how each line has different opportunities to present an interesting experience from the viewpoint of making any of the lines for TSW2.
    Screenshot 2021-09-28 084857.png

It is from a 2016 report for network development and highlights the key areas that are restraining the system from operating at its most efficient (typically at peak times). A couple individual issues points have been fixed as a result of the report and there are more planned changes, but the vast majority remain unresolved at this time. So the graphic is still very relevant to today.

Oh yes, I'm all in for this. When I bought the game I didn't knew it was so restricted to a few countries. Looking at the pictures I see very nice scenery I wanna travel by train. I want to see routes from all over the world. Let's start bringing more countries to TSW (starting with Belgium as it is a small country ;))
